My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights before the start of a safari. This is not a fancy hotel but lovely in its own way. Room was reasonably priced, clean and adequate. Staff were friendly and hospitable. I would recomend this place if you are looking for somewhere cheap to stay in Jo'burg before the start of a safari.

This backpacker hostel is cheap and cheerful so you get what you pay for. It is on a barren tract of land not far from Johannesburg airport. In July, the rooms were freezing cold (no heaters to be found) and the rooms could do with an uplfigt (shower did not work well and taps were loose). However, the beds are comfortable and the food is good with great fast food options in the evenings (you need to book meals on check in) and the breakfast was good. The airport transfers are slow and pick ups require a bit of a wait. But for a budget stay, you get good value for your buck. I would opt for its sister property The Safari Club next time - closer to the airport, better staff service and generally better value for just a little more.

Moafrika has a cute cozy feel, unlike the cold feel you get from some of the more expensive super posh places. I stayed one night in the double suite like room, which was so nice with a flat screen tv and the warmest wonderful shower. I have also stayed in the dorm beds on seperate occasions and been satisifed with both. The dorm room even has a giant jacuzzi sized bathtub which is great for soothing tired traveling muscles if you can arrnage the private time in the shared bathroom. Did I mention the free wifi? While the menu is not anything to write home about, it is reasonable and quick. I have stayed in many a backpackers/hostel and Moafrika is definately one of the coziest, cleanest and most comfortable I have found. It's true its not so close to the airport, maybe a 20

Stayed in a mixed dorm and found it very comfortable, despite a cold shower. Was able to get a decent meal in the evening and the complimentary breakfast was very good (scrambled egg on toast and cereal with yoghurt). Unfortunately I think I got forgotten about at the airport and had to phone them to get picked. Not ideal as I didn't have local number so would recommend confirming booking a day or two in advance. The same goes if you're booking further travel through the lodge or Viva Safari as again I got left behind - though the owner sorted it out and they came back for me without too much of a delay in journey time. I would stay there again after flying into Johannesburg.

For short stays, there's probably not a better place you could pick in Johannesburg. Anthony, Andrew and all of the staff are extremely friendly and helpful, and the fact that they operate one of the best tour companies in the area too, means you'll always have something to fill your days with. The location is close to the airport, but a fleet of drivers are available to take you anywhere in and around Johannesburg. I stayed in the dorm, and it's one of the best shared accomodations I've been in - clean and comfy! Overall, a great experience.

Being from the United States, and wanting to stay in a place so outlandish and unfamiliar as South Africa was a bit of a challenge to undergo, but with the help of William and Anthony from MoAfrika I was able to feel completely taken care of. I was a little nervous transferring almost 30,000R to the MoAfrika bank account, but I felt completely at ease because the two gentleman had been working so close with me to make me feel so safe. For 2 months, we planned the trip and had the pickup and the dropoff from the airport perfect. We even had a place to put our luggage as we went on our safari! The stay was absolutely incredible. We had some great South African wine and beer, as well as great meals that included "pap" and traditional meats and steaks. Overall wonderful
