The guest house is situated in the trendy Melville area of Jo'burg. We were staying for one night with an evening flight the next day so wanted somewhere giving easy access to bars/restaurants etc and this fit the bill as many bars and restaurants are a 5 minute walk away. We arrived on a late Friday afternoon and were met... More

We stayed at Lucky Bean Guesthouse one night as we needed a place to stay while making an airplane connection. The accommodations are very nice and the service excellent. We had two special requests that the guest house fulfilled with no problem. One request was to leave a suitcase for three weeks that we did not want to take on... More

The hosts went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and comfortable- they even planned a fun day for us in the city with awesome recommendations. I have just spent three nights staying here while on a work trip to Johannesburg. It's in Melville - a very funky residential neighbourhood of Johannesburg. The guesthouse is set back from an already quiet street - like a little secret garden behind plant-covered high walls. A lovely garden with very nicely decorated rooms (more like suites). Super beds with... More

My wife and I stayed here for a week. Conway, the owner was very helpful with good tips for site seeing and getting around Joburg. The staff, Pretty, Agnes and Dudu looked after us very well and we would recommend this lovely garden setting.

Lucky Bean guesthouse is very well situated for a visit to Johannesburg. The prices for this extremely comfortable and clean guesthouse make the airport transfer worth the effort. The property is very well maintained and birds abound, for me much better than another bland and boring hotel. Conway, the owner, is most helpful in arranging tours and suggesting evening entertainment.... More

We stayed at the Lucky Bean for a mixed week of work and pleasure. The house and guest rooms were stylish and comfortable throughout. The lovely garden provided the perfect space for decompression and reflection. The staff could not do enough to make the stay perfect. The breakfasts were the perfect start to the day. In addition to all of... More
