This is a gorgeous little place; very funky and stylish. Really easy to find in Melville and the breakfast across the road was top knotch. Villa was enormous and very clean and new...way bigger than my place at home! :) Really enjoyed our stay; will be back!

My husband and I took our first trip to Africa this March. We wanted to spend some time in Johannesburg before setting out on safari, and chose Saffron Guesthouse based on the neighborhood and the good reviews on various websites. We were extremely pleased with our choice. The rooms are small suites, tastefully decorated and arranged around a private courtyard....

The staff are poorly trained. Accommodation is beautiful, clean and spacious, and the breakfast at a restaurant across the street is excellent. No coffee or tea in room... very disappointing for the room rate. I changed to a smaller more arty hotel nearby with better trained staff and even a welcome sherry in the room. Same location, lower rate and...

We stayed in room number 4, for 4 nights. The first night I thought the noise was really loud but then realized that the windows were open. The "room" was huge, with a really modern bathroom and a nice sitting area. The room had a fridge and a microwave. The guest house is very conveniently located, in a hip neighborhood,...

Saffron is in a very artsy, hip neighborhood. Just the way we want it. The room is spacious, very clean , tastefully decorated with modern conveniences. Ours did not have ac but we didn't need it during our stay. It's a short walk to nice restaurants, cafes and bars, a bookstore and a lot of curio shops too. We would...

Thank you so much for your kind words. You stayed in the only room that did not have aircon but today they are at the guesthouse to install an air conditioning unit there. We look forward to your next stay and thank you again for your advise and compliments.

Really great house with beautiful furnishings. Situated in the Melville's Main Street, near to different restaurant and pubs. Wifi works well. Privacy guarantee. Be careful if you walk around by yourself on the streets, safety in Jo'burg is difficult to reach.

The hotel/guesthouse is impeccably stylish and well maintained and the rooms are quite luxurious. The location at the end of 7th street is within a very short walk of numerous cafes, restaurants and bars and feels very safe even at night, on the main street. The management is absolutely wonderful and could not be more helpful and genuinely caring for...

My friend walked in and first thing we said was "woah." It was a cool suite, huge glass shower, and just looked really nice. Staff there was also very helpful. We actually had to leave early in the morning, and breakfast is provided by a restaurant a few doors down, and they pre-packed a nice breakfast sandwich for us. Only...

I had a wonderful spacious and beautiful decorated room. Own little garden patio access to coffee shops around the corner from guest house. It was actually more than a room, it was a little flat. Nice and clean and very secure.
