I have frequented Heia Safari Ranch for many years, and besides the usual friend get togethers, take large groups of people, including overseas guests, when they are in SA, for a meal. It is a beautiful country venue. The sad thing is that now it is under new management. To my surprise there has now been a gate fee charged...

We were looking for a place to have lunch and braved a potholed road that we found was in the process of being resurfaced. On our way, we saw a number of antilope near the road. Coming into the parking area we found most people were probably there for the various mountian biking trails. Also, a black springbok was ambling...

I spent there a couple of days for business. We were originally booked at the Ekudeni uphill, but due to some changes they rebooked us into the Heia. And that definitely turned out to be a fluke. The Heia is maybe not the most luxury place to stay but the location is packed with different animals (giraffes, zebras, ...) and...

This place is not like before unfortunately. The new management in my opinion has done changes that really don't make sense! They have removed the tv and telephone from the rooms. There is no night receptionist. The wifi is useless as no signal is detected in any of the huts! Norbert the chef was very helpful and friendly. On a...

We experienced fantastic service at the outdoor restaurant and loved watching the zebras drinking from the pool right next to us! The Giraffe's also come strolling by but keep your distance as they are still wild animals! It's quite a unique experience especially for overseas visitors. Unfortunately you can no longer picnic or fish there due to visitors leaving a...

Buffet breakfast was good and as would be expected, nothing special but coffee fresh and hot and the food too with staff friendly and accommodating to omelette or special egg requests. Continental options available

I note negative comments, and while property and facilities require upgrade this is not a picnic site!! It is no wonder that the Heia Safari under previous owners/management went into liquidation as the entire property and facilities were abused by free-loaders and chancers. Try taking your skottle and cooler box to Sun City and open this around their dams or...

They say you can't bring food or drink but they don't cater for your chalet. Tried to buy drinks to bring back to the chalet but they didn't have proper facilities and ice to keep them cold. Bar closes at 8 and stores closed even earlier so there in no way to get snacks or drinks after a certain time....

We've been to Heia (now called Cradle Moon, I think) before and loved it for being in such a gorgeous setting so close to Jozi. Accommodation is perfectly fine (although it lacks privacy, the decor is dated and cheesy and there's no fan or aircon) but the grounds are really quite beautiful. Sadly, it's now under new management and the...

Attempted to have a constructive discussion with Jeremy, the Heia Safari manager about whether I can bring my cooler box and skottel in to feed the 14 folk (incl 8 children, all swimming) we committed breakfast to at yesterdays open water swim day. Like we've done so often when we've come to swim or cycle here over the years. Only...
