On arriving there were renovations done to Freedom square and the entrance to the hotel obstructed. The room had a double bed, a balcony (that was dirty and not cleaned recently) a small writing room area, walk in cupboard and bathroom with bath and shower in the bath. It was very difficult to shower without getting water al over the... More

I have had the privilege of staying at the Soweto Hotel on Freedom Square on a number of occasions. The hotel has gone out of their way to accommodate my company's requests for breakfast packs at insanely early hours of the morning and serving buffets which is not usually offered. The staff are exceptionally friendly and efficient, the rooms are... More

I stopped by this hotel for a cup of coffee and to debrief a trip to Klip Town, Soweto. All the staff were very friendly and happy to have a chat and to help anyway they could. It felt a very genuine place in an extraordinary location.

Saturday the 23rd April I came with my family 3 adults, 1x 12 year old and 2 year old to have breakfast. We were the only people in the dining room thus expected a faster service. The lady came to take our order. We waited about 15 min before she could take the 12 year old order. When I raised... More

Very good value for money in an unexpected location . South African cuisine would enhance the offering , menu leaves a lot to be desired . Security not good sadly . Daughter got mugged outside hotel and security ID not respond .

The location of the Hotel is quite significant as it is at the centre of the Historic Kliptown, where the Freedom Charter was founded. The staff is very friendly and helpful. What you will have is a neighbourhood experience that will make you feel as part of the community of Kliptown and Soweto. The Hotel has got its own unique... More

This hotel is in historic Kliptown and I've stayed there twice in the last week. It is set up really nicely with a good dose of history and the staff are super friendly. The food is good. I had some problems with checking in and out. Maintenance issues were a little frustrating but the big deal breaker was that the... More

The gate was closed and I struggled to open it, security was nowhere to be seen and we got robbed at gunpoint. The hotel doesn't give a d*mn that I'm out R6000. Can't even give me a free night's stay.

Our stay at the hotel was very nice, we enjoyed ourselves, enjoyed the food the whole experience just beyond amazing.. The room was very clean big enough for the hotel to incorporate a single bed for my son. Lebo (front office manager) was a wonderful hostess , thumbs up to The Soweto Hotel...... Thank you so much.
