I am so glad that we decided to book at Nomad Backpackers. What a lovely place! Our room was large and had a little balcony where I sat in the morning with a cup of coffee. Later I wandered around the pretty gardens and wished we were staying longer so that I could enjoy the little pool that was so...

Myself and my friend originally planned to stay for 2 nights but as we love a city we extended it to 4 and it was the best decision we've made! The first day we went on a tour of Durban with Johnny the guide, which was really fun and informative and he made us feel really safe our entire stay!...

I was in Durban to do reporting. Between the loud music played at reception until midnight and the loud guests, little sleep was possible. Rather dirty, old-fashioned hostel; can barely charge phones.

Overall a good stay in Durban can be found here at Nomads. Johnny's tour of Durban was the perfect way to see the city and experience everything Durban has to offer. Don't believe the rumours that there is nothing to do in Durban as there is lots! You can visit the Durban stadium and have a sky car up to...

We spent three nights in the dorm. Our stay was made unpleasant by loud music playing most of the day and night. People at the reception area were quite inconsiderate at nightime (up to midnight shouting in loud voices over music) and we could not sleep. Bathrooms should have handwash available to use. We enjoyed good breakfast. Good location near...

Bar closes at 10PM and they pretty much force you out of the common area at that time for the staff to be able to leave. They have a 24/7 washer and dryer available. 1 full bottle of wine is only 50R and the bar.

Staff was great....in particular Johnny, who is a former Baz bus driver and lives at the hostel, and volunteers when help is needed to run the place. My room felt dark, with mosquitos, extremely hot and dank, even with a fan. Noise from lobby area was exceptionally loud. And my room's one window was by the entrance where people smoked...

Nomad is located in a safe neighborhood, next to a shopping mall that pretty much has everything. The shopping mall also has a nice gym and easy access to bars and clubs via Uber (approx. 30 to 50 Rand). The place has several dorm rooms, which are quite cramped at 170 Rand per person, so we opted to get a...
