If you are looking for the most kind and helpful hosts in SA -Smith's cottage is the place! Pad and Keith gave us the best and most personal "service" in their lovely and very clean home. Their house is very cozy and relaxing, but still with a very nice pool area to relax by. We'll definitely be back and we...

My girlfriend and I spent two nights at the start of our trip to SA with Pat and Keith. They are super welcoming and friendly couple, Keith picked us up from the nearest airport shuttle stop, and then drove us around all day on a saturday to get food and other supplies needed for our two weeks of trekking we...

Our stay at Smiths Cottage hostel was great, especially due to all the efforts Gary and his family take to make you feel so welcome and at home. They were the best, always willing to help even when you don't even expect them to do so. I stayed here with my friend in November in a private room. It was...

The innkeepers are here to give you advice and they're very cool! The private lounge (for the dormitory users) is good to rest ! The bed in the dormitory are comfy (low headed) but it doesn't mind for sleep ! Not quite expensive for the dormitory! If you're gonna stay (long or not) in Durban a recommended you this Backpacker...

These guys were the ones that offered us a room for the night when Akidogo would not check us in anymore even though we had a booking there. This place is warm, the owners are really friendly and helpful and upon arrival, everyone was sitting in front of a fire as one big family. You feel like they don't do...

Such a nice, homey place to stay in Durban! It felt instantly like home and I was treated as if I was a long time friend. We arrived late and Keith had made sure we had dinner to eat. The cabins were lovely and we'll maintained, with charming sliding french doors. It was great to take a swim in the...

We went down to Durban for the weekend to go and watch the Springbok game at Kings Park. We drove from Joburg and arrived at around 19:00 during cold an rainy weather. Garry came out to meet us and upon discovering that we were four guys and not two couples like he expected he promptly sorted out the cabins converting...

Unfortunately we had a bad stay here. Pat and keith were not present, i think it was their son who was in charge. Quite loud rugby on the outisde TV which was very close to our room but this didn't bother us too much. Host friendly and accommodating but communal areas felt quite grubby- kitchen/shower room etc. Bedding seemed clean...

Thank you so much for the amazing hospitality Pat & Keith. The pool cottage was perfect. Clean, well equipped, private parking spot, beautiful pool and garden. Honestly, it was PERFECT. We could not have asked for anything more. THANK YOU for making our stay so easy!! You are the best, and we WILL be back!

I have stayed at Smith's Cottage and had a great time there. Everyone is friendly and the room is clean. I would highly recommend that budget travellers stay here when visiting Durban. Felt like I am part of the family.
