We stayed at both properties, the Game Lodge and The Heritage Safari lodge. Our first 6 days was spent at the Safari Lodge. Being a family of 3 we were "upgraded" (?) to a large "tent" which was actually a very well appointed room with...More
We bought is it an option on a whim. It seemed like 95% of the people there did the same thing. It’s their marketing and how they get people there.
With that said, we enjoyed ourselves. We had a great room off the pool, but...More
We just returned from a 9 day visit. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip. The animals were amazing. Our guide, Tina was extremely knowledgeable. We took two excursions. Both were excellent - elephant interaction and Hluhluwe Park - 225,000 acres of nature! It unexpectedly rained a...More
Excellent experience! Our guide (ranger), Ronnie was outstanding and offered a wealth of information about the animals in the park. This game park is unique because the ranger will drive you right up to the animals so that they are only a few feet away....More

100% safe. I would recommend using the transportation services offered by the resort vs renting a car and driving yourself. The cost is a bit higher but totally worth the assurance of someone else driving and knowing where to go. They do drive on the shoulders of the road so you are just safer with a driver. Once at the resort, you won’t have any worries at all. There was a family with a 7-10 year old boy and he had a good time. Also, I heard from others to use the hotel that the resort recommends in Johannesburg. People said that they were well watched after as they acclimated to the time change. Go to Victoria Falls while in Johannesburg. We didn’t and regret not going. Hope that helps.
