Some of the rooms are more spacious than others... if you're not happy with the assigned 'standard room', you have the option to upgrade or move rooms, and if space if available, the staff will do what they can to accommodate. We stayed in Rm. 10 - it had a great view and close to the pool. The shower head... More

What a fantastic experience!! Everything and everyone were awesome. Our guide Bernie aka "danga ranga " is the best. So very knowledgeable & such fun. Always aware of how each person could get the best photo, even used her lens on my camera to get a great close up of cheetah with its kill. Meals served buffet style, plenty of... More

My daughter and I went to Zulu safari. Firstly, if you do end up there , stay at the Game Lodge( on the Reserve) rather then the Heritage . Although, it was off the beaten track, it did have a vista. This place is a big zoo. There is no "search" for animals. You get on the jeep at the... More

Packed with tour buses & tame wildlife roaming around with lethargic crocodiles in an enclosure...???!!!! Really!??? Great staff but dont bother otherwise. Ive no idea how they do their advertising & get away with what they deliver - its ridiculous.

We stayed for 3 nights on an introductory discount voucher which made it affordable. We were disappointed that the distance between the car park and our room was 280 metres, which is hard going with a bundle of luggage for an extended holiday and a wife with a moon boot thanks to an ankle sprain. It is very comfortable and... More

We bought the trip at a charity auction like everyone else. We had an absolutely fabulous time. Our driver for our twice daily safaris was Sandiso and he was so interesting, friendly. and knowledgeable.Seeing the animals up close was amazing. Our room was nice and clean, had a coffee maker, and was supplied with bottled water. All meals were buffet... More

The Zulu Nyala Property, safari and overall staff is excellent. The staff really made the trip great especially our safari guide Musa! He was such an expert and provided great information, but you could tell how caring he is of all the animals. He respects them and gave us so many wonderful memories. I can not say enough about how... More

We stayed 3 nights in the Heritage Safari tents and 3 nights at the Game Lodge and highly recommend staying at both for two different experiences while enjoying the exciting game reserve experience. The tents made us feel like we were really camping in the great outdoors though the interiors were large, and comfortable, with all modern amenities of a... More

I "won" a week's report to Zulu Nyala at a school fundraiser. I was a bit leery, not knowing exactly what I was getting. And It turned out to be fantastic! Bernie was our guide, and she is the best! Game drives everyday. Animals! Every drive was different, depending on time of day, and what the animals were doing! We... More

Because all who book here have won the trip in a charity auction, there's a sense of getting much more value. We upgraded from a standard room to a "Hemingway Tent" and were very pleased with the room. They are a little further walk from the main hotel, but the grounds are nice and it's fun to walk past the... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Heritage Safari Lodge was originally built in the 1940’s as a hotel and was a landmark pit-stop for weary travelers between Maputo and Durban. Acquired in 1996, the gracious building was lovingly restored to its original colonial grandeur, enhanced with new accommodation, and tastefully themed to highlight Zululand’s unique cultural heritage. With buffet-style meals in our restaurant, the wide, welcoming veranda and our ‘human watering hole’ - the pub or thatched boma, warm and relaxing atmosphere is conducive to shared good times and conviviality. The sparkling pool is always inviting, and you’re sure to enjoy browsing our beautifully stocked curio shop for a few authentic African mementos. ... more   less
