I love Durban ! I love the people , but they have always been marketing themselves to Gauteng tourists ! They will always prefer having large windows and internet for ridiculously high price! The same story is with The Protea Umhlanga Rocks , fantastic rooms , great breakfast beautiful decor , but the internet you have pay as you go...

The location is nice and the front desk staff is friendly & professional however the Internet Stinks! They only give a voucher for a limited Internet time and once you've used all the time you have to call the front desk for a new volcher#. This was the negative for me. This is a business trip so you can imagine...

The hotel has been extended, and the new wing is excellent. Rooms are very nice and comfortable. Service is good, and so is the breakfast room. The location is nice and the price is good. Very pleasant stay.

Quick break for us. Reception staff were amazing. Decor after the revamp = superb. Room very spacious and clean. Bed comfortable. Very centrally located. Lots of restaurants in area. Walking distance from pier. Daily parking charged separately. Breakfasts a true treat, but is excluded from room rate. Cappuccino in bar area a must. Can't wait to go again after whole...

We have been staying in quite a few Protea Hotels. I was very impressed with the downstairs decor, the central location and the size of the large room. The bathroom is large and has both a bath and a small shower. The kitchenette is an added bonus and has been very useful. We arrived on a Bank Holiday and there...

It is the first time when checking into a hotel that l have not received a warm welcome at reception. It was cold and robotic. No porters to assist with luggage. Impersonal and disappointing. We were shown to the lifts by hand signals from the cold effortless manager who made no effort to take us and show us. It instantly...

Stayed at the Protea Hotel by Marriott® uMhlanga on the 25/03/2017 and the state of the bathroom was appalling!!! We reported it to the manager Muhammed Abdul Kadir and we are still to hear anything from him or any hotel representative. Filthy bathrooms, stay at your own risk!!!

Great location and have been using this hotel for over 15 years and even though the hotel has been revamped & the new wing looks great, the management of the hotel have forgotten about the basic details. Don't thing you will have a great shower after a long days work as with the type of water pressure that one experiences...

Restaurants all around, just a walk to the beach BUT, the staff wasn´t very friendly.I booked online & when I reached there, I was put in a room where there was no Wi-fi connection. I complained but unfortunately had to deal with it for 3days. i had to sit at the...
