Beautiful house with 6 bedrooms (although the 6th bedroom is outside and separate from the rest of the accommodation) large lounge and an amazing veranda overlooking the Umzimkulu river. Its outlook is completely separate from view from the rest of the accommodation and amenities but they are accessible within a few minutes. Very close to Underberg. Owners really helpful.

This was our third trip to Umzimkulu and so lovely to experience the different seasons there. We love Mangrove cottage and the beautiful river walk (as do our dogs). Lynne and Steven are lovely hosts and we will definitely be back. If you can, take a picnic basket and go up Sani pass. Wonderful spot for birding too.

Beautiful, serene setting next to the river. Service outstanding, friendly owners and staff always willing to assist and ensure you have all you need. A trip to Sani Pass was a highlight. Tubing down the river and rapids for 5km was fun. Due to the recent heavy rains we were unable to do the Gorge walk. Would highly recommend Umzimkulu...

We arrived on a rainy late afternoon and the mood of our guests were a bit low after a very long drive and because of the drizzles. When we arrived we realised it is actually quite a bit a bit of a drive to the next restaurant and we weren´t aware that we could have prebooked dinner. But we were...

Amazing setting, so peaceful and picturesque. The owner Steve, and his staff, were extremely, pleasant, friendly and helpful. Evening meals were freshly prepared, desserts too, and delicious. Nice bar and games room. If you want 5* accommodation then Mangrove Cottage is not for you. It is a rustic 1940's thatched property in need of some TLC but did this not...

We stayed in the Bower, which has a prime location on the banks of the river with private deck and garden, and beautiful views overlooking the river. The room is very spacious and well kitted out, and the friendliness of the staff was excellent. The room is self catering, but we ate out most of the time, including at the...

What a beautiful place. We rented a little house with 2 floors. Our view from our bed was so beautiful and when we opened the doors the sun would sine on the bed. What else do you want. Only the food was not so great, but you have your own kitchen, so you can make something yourself. Perfect place for...

We have stayed over for one night at Umzimkulu Lodge during December 2016. There was enough room in the cottage which have a separate shower and bath. The cottage was very tidy and clean on our arrival. The cottage was private and have its own deck with stunning river and mountain views. The trout we had for dinner on the...

We stayed in the Pygmy Chalet. It was well equipped, lovely little patio to sit outside and enjoy the view. The stairs to the bedroom were definitely 'awkward' and would be no good if you had mobility problems. Also be aware no aircon or TV (we didn't mind) plus side it is a peaceful location. Owners were lovely and very...

Umzimkulu River Lodge offers serviced, DB&B, B&B or Self catering accommodation on one of the most picturesque bends of the Umzimkulu River in the Southern Drakensburg. We are situated 2 hours from DBN and 6 hrs from Johannesburg in the foothills of the Ukhahlamba Drakensberg Park World Heritage Site.
