These beautifully appointed farm cottages, each named after a staff member by their owner Claire Crowther, are nestled in the indigenous forest on Oakhurst Farm, Woodville, whose entrance is just 800m from the famous Woodville Big Tree, a massive Outeniqua Yellowwood and one of the great trees of the Garden Route. Situated on the lush plateau a few minutes beyond...

We stayed in The Forge at Oakhurst Farm for 5 nights, and had the most restful and relaxing holiday. The Forge is perfect - tastefully decorated with everything that you could need. We loved sitting and reading in front of the little fireplace in our fluffy gowns in the evening, and opening up the canvas walls to let the breeze...

There is nothing more to say than absolutely perfect - thank you so much for a wonderful stay. We will definitely be back in the near future and will make more use of the facilities on the farm. The cottages are well kitted, but take note that there are no microwave ovens when doing your meal planning.

Maarten Thank you for your review. I am glad you enjoyed Awies Attic, its one of my favourites as it gets more light and the views very special The reason we have no microwaves is because of the power supply, those units were built many years ago and power to that spot was minimal. all our heating is gas, shower,...

Find these exquisite cottages right in the middle of a beautiful diary farm - nature right on your doorstep. Remember to pack hiking shoes and load your Mountain bike . They also offer horse riding trails every day on request. There is even canoeing available! Kids can visit the dairy and join in the milking activities daily. The cottages are...

We stayed 2 nights in Oakhurst Farm Cottages. It is a heaven for the families with children. But be very carefful for the fences with electricity. You receive fresh egg and milk, which taste much more different than available in Spar.

thank you for the review the electric fence is not always on and we are happy to put it off if quests prefer that. it keeps our huge herd of black angus and dairy cows away from my precious garden! Great that you had a good time!

We stayed at Oakhurst to break a trip almost perfectly in half between the Eastern Cape and Cape Town. After a day's driving, being able to relax in such beautiful serene surroundings was a fantastic way to feel revived the next morning. There's plenty for the kids to explore and do on the forest edge, and sitting around the fire...

Hi Nicholas Thank you for your review..i don't think we have had a barefoot runner on our trails yet so I am sure to remember that! Pity the waterfall is not gushing at the moment ..we are desperately needing rain! Its a great swimming spot after good rains! We are improving and working on our trails on a daily basis,...

The self-catering accommodation consists of 5 separate cottages. Ours slept 6 people but we were the four us, sharing a small bathroom. I found the beds comfortable but there were others who felt that the mattresses were hard. There is a nice veranda with barbecue facilities overlooking the forest. It is also possible to cook in the open inside kitchen,...

Thank you for your pleasant review. Pity you found the matresses a bit hard, most people comment on how firm and great they are. Its quite a personal preference I guess. The reason we don't have microwaves is because we do not have enough power supply to have them in all the units. remembering these cottages were all very old...

we couldn't have enjoyed our time are Oakhurst more. We spent our first night in the Forge which has got to be one of the most special places that we have stayed in as a family. The alfresco feel of the living area is an absolute delight and cooking meals in the open air is definitely one of life's greatest...

Stayed a week and will be back for another. Lots of thought had gone into catering for families with small kids - extra toys, box with crayons and blackboard/chalk on the verandah... The farm dam-swimming pool was a real pleasure on the hot days. Well equipped kitchen. (Have to have the Cheese Cake in Hoekwil town.)

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
This 150 year old stone cottage was one of the first building to be built at Oakhurst and today is the main bedroom, with thick stone walls and exposed timber beams. The living area wraps around the cottage and is made up of a dining area, equipped kitchen with gas stove and cosy lounge area. The entire side of the building can be opened up, by way of canvas roller blinds to maximise the spectacular forest views from here. The Forge sleeps two in a double bed, with two extra kiddies beds on a mezzanine in the loft. A central log fireplace takes the chill away during the Garden Route winters. The open-air shower and bathroom offer the same breathtaking views onto the forest fringe. Each cottage is privately positioned and fully set up for self-catering, with a well equipped kitchen and cozy living area with wooden floors. The living are in turn opens out onto a large wooden deck and braai area. This is the spot where you can either enjoy a good meal around the large wooden table or simply enjoy some of Oakhurst’s fine mountain air while getting stuck into a good book. Each cottage has three bedrooms (One double and two twins) and sleeps up to 6 people. There is a central bathroom with shower. Garden Route winters can be cold, and a fire roaring in the kitchen’s woodburning stove sets the perfect atmosphere for farm winters.Ideal for families, a group of friends or even larger groups ... more   less

“If you stay at the Forge and have your kids with you, take a torch or a little touch light for them in the upstairs little loft level as we didn't seem to find a light that was accessible once you were up the ladder and it can be a bit dark and scary, not to mention precarious when you trying to negotiate the ladder to go to the toilet.”
