We stayed here on our trip along the garden route. The hotel has history to it and was therefore a retro hotel pre 1940 style. It proved to be an excellent choice for us in a fabulous location in wilderness next to the river with great walks. We saw a group of Knysna Turaco parrots. Ate out in wilderness on...

It all started the moment we arrived when we found that despite having booked, we were not. We should have left then but the receptionist Anina smoothed the situation . The room we were allocated was found to have plugs that were not working so we were "upgraded" to a river view bungalow. The only good thing about this bungalow...

Was in wilderness for two days, and very much enjoyed our stay there. Kanooing was a great experience with beautiful nature. Fairy knowe is a rustic hotel, stay in the rooms on the water, as the rest are and are in need of being renovated in the next two years. Staff friendly helpful and ready to give good tips. Cheers

Good value for money, we stayed in a river facing unit. The interior a bit tacky but a good size room. The bathrooms however needs a total revamp though. The staff was friendly and the morning breakfast filling.

Lovely setting and a safe place to stay, peaceful and a great way to de stress after a hectic day. All staff really good, food good, some of the rooms need a little bit of tender love and care but will always go back. Rates excellent and good for business and leisure.

A long time ago, it is in an ideal location if you are lucky or book in advance, and get a room that overlooks the river but the general atmosphere and decoration is depressing, tawdry.Online reviews is the main research point for travellers these days is through web sites, but there is such a thing as overkill, hustling.the day after...

my stay was too short , i would like to come back and stay a little longer to enjoy all facilities the location is good , private and serene. unfortunately the fishing was not good but that is not the hotels fault.

I enjoyed having a bar fridge in the room. It helps a lot to freeze my ice packs and keep water cool for the next days' journey. I find that a fan in summer would be helpful as the nights along the coast is very humid.

Perfect for whole family with natures twist. The hotel is perfectly situated along the river bank. You can hire a bicycle and cycle amongs nature. If rawing is your game they have it. Fishing is allowed.
