Our group of 9 people stayed here for 1 night on our way to safari. We had a fantastic time. Before we even arrived the manager Sander could not have been more helpful and responsive to our emails. The location is in a gated community/safari park (like the golf estates in Europe but this is a lodge is in the... More

We spent one night here after spending a day exploring the Blyde River Canyon and before heading off to Kruger the next day - and it was nothing short of excellent. The room was great, spacious, nicely decorated and we even had zebra grazing right outside our room at one point which was pretty cool! The best part was Sander... More

As previously mentioned the attention to details is amazing. Lovely quiet but central position. Sander and Juliet are PERFECT hosts. Choices for breakfast were too numerous to mention and all well presented. Safe, quiet, convenient, with lots of animals for company, good food and easy access to Jessica the Hippo and the wonderful Hat and Creek Restaurant and Juliet's excellent... More

The bathroom was immaculate and there was a nice range of products to use, as well as natural insect repellants. Sander the owner does a delicious and appetising braai. This is truly a lovely spot to relax in... More

African Rock Lodge is like a 5 star lodge in amenities, room decor and cleanliness. The owner, Zander, is a first class host and is very quick to help out in solving unexpected travel problems. He provides airport transfer and lunch and dinner in addition to an excellent breakfast. The area surrounding the lodge is rich in bird life and... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
African Rock Lodge offers luxury thatched-roof accommodation with a private patio. It features an heated outdoor pool with sun terrace, a rustic bar, a guest lounge with flat screen TV, and a large braai (bbq) area. All of our four air-conditioned rooms include a seating area and king-sized bed, tea & coffee facilities, mini-bar, Wi-Fi internet and mosquito nets. The en-suite bathrooms have double washbasins, a double shower (normal & rain shower), a bath, toilet and free toiletries. Our accommodation is catered (breakfast). Taking that well-earned break will NEVER be the same without the real "finishing touches" of your hosts (and owners) Sander & Juliet. The Estate has great wildlife populations that roam freely around the lodge. Giraffe, waterbuck, warthog, impala, kudu, blue wildebeest, zebra and nyala are commonly seen. There are no predators on the Estate, which is perfect for walking, driving and mountain biking among the game. There are two elevated thatched hides overlooking water holes on a perennial stream that runs from the main gate in the west.At night the nocturnal wildlife is just as plentiful. The calls of the hyena and the black backed jackal are as loud as the millions of stars in the sky are bright. If you sit outside at the fireside with the lodge lights dimmed you can expect regular visits from porcupines and warthogs while locating the bark of the male impalas in the dark in the rutting season. We offer Bed & Breakfast and/or Dinner Bed & Breakfast. ... more   less
