Staying at Otters Den starts with a walk across a swinging pedestrian bridge 200 meters long to get to the island in the river where the tree house hotel is located. You are met by owners who really care for you during your stay. The food they serve is fantastic. The activities in and around the area are numerous. One...

We stayed at Otters Den whilst touring SA after a wedding in July 2010. It was a wonderful experience. The bridge was interesting, every time we went out they heard us coming home, I screamed my head off. The others including my pregnant daughter in law loved the bridge I hated it!! This did not detract from a wonderful stay....

Stayed for one night with my wife and 16 year old daughter en route to Sabi Sands. Otters Den was highly recommended - and the accomodation and ambience did not disappoint. We left our car at the car port and the porter brought our (very heavy) luggage accross a suspension bridge. Once accross the bridge, we were warmly welcomed by...

We are travelling a lot, and there is always something about a place that can be improved. This is not the case for Otters Den River Lodge. The owners are charming, the place is a treasure, the food is excellent. In the middle of an island, accessible via a very special bridge, this place is a must if you are...

Exceptional place to stay with exceptional hospitality. Only got to stay here one night with my husband. Very unusually located on a little island with a swing bridge. Father, mother and son (owners) were very friendly. The evening meal was very tasty. Definitely worth a visit. Nice walks around the island with the son - very informative. Anne & Gareth...

We were recommended that we stayed at Otters Den by a guide in Cape Town. It didn't disappoint. You arrive and leave the car in the car park and walk down a path and across a rope bridge. You can watch the porters struggle with the luggage whilst having tea with the owners. The rooms are ok but the hippos...

We (family of 2 adults,1 teenager) stayed for 3 nights at Otters Den. You enter over a bridge, I'm afraid of heights etc. and was quite concerned about this bit, but believe me it's safe and easy. Our room was just gorgeous, and although we hadn't booked or paid for it they accom. our son in his own room which...
