We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay here. We had the first completed, upgraded luxury tent which is on the corner of the property with stunning views over the Timbavati riverbed. The patio/deck has a table which seats 3, the kitchen is up on the deck and has all that you need with a full sized fridge/freezer inside where the...

This tented camp is set along the banks of the Timbavati riverbed, and has a very authentic "bush" feel compared to many of the more built-up camps in Kruger. If you're lucky (and stay up late enough), you may just get a glimpse of the semi-resident honeybadger couple who do the rounds a few times a week. Likewise, you have...

Tamboti Camp is fine, we stayed here only once on our first trip. We shared a Safari tent which slept 4 of us. Good Value...was clean, the communal bathrooms were clean, and the location is nice for Braai as your beside the riverbed. They do say Hyenas walk the river bed at night but we werent so lucky our night....

A tent with hardwood floors and a bathroom! The tents are spaced quite far apart so you have privacy. Plenty of room, an outdoor kitchen on an elevated deck complete with thieving monkeys, what more could you ask for?

Paintball-gun-strangers running after monkeys...?Or are these staff members working on a monkey issue without uniform, proper identification or clear explanation to surprised guests of what exactly they were doing? Sets a bad president to other perhaps ignorant tourists or campers that they too can bring their paintball guns and take aim at the monkeys. This is not conservation people, but...

we stayed 3 nights in Tamboti in December, i learned two things whilst there. 1) turn of your lights at night to avoid being swarmed by millions of insects, and 2) 3 days is to long to stay in Tamboti. Facilities were maintained well, as we used communal washrooms, and the bed linnen was clean. Vervet monkeys and Baboons came...

2 types of accommodation - but recommend the units with the suite. Both types are clean and comfortable. The common kitchen & toilet facilities are good and the layout of the camp site is good, allowing privacy between units.

The setting is lovely but the accommodation needs updating. While the layout is very good, it is very dark inside the tent and the lighting is poor. Our tent was very worn and generally the place did not feel clean. The linen is a good quality. This accommodation is not expensive and some may find it good value for money....

We spend as much time in the bush as we can - more so Imfolozi as we're from KZN - This was our 1st visit to Tamboti and it certainly won't be our last - it offers total seclusion combined with the sound of Lions and Hyenas throughout the night - truly unique experience - we loved our 4 night...

Everything we needed in this great bush camp - and our group of 8 had privacy and a super time. Our connecting ensuite and kitchen were great and well stocked and worked well. We self catered as a group and it was great to be in the African bush with all the night sounds.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Tamboti tented camp is a small camp situated on the banks of the Timbavati River, on the western boundary of the Kruger National Park, approximately 2km east of Orpen Rest Camp. Due to the size and location of this camp, Tamboti is one of the most popular camps in the Park. A great feature is a boma, which makes it ideal for small groups of people to gather around the campfire and relive the animal sightings of the day. For the birding enthusiasts, Tamboti offers a bird hide in which to spend hours looking for that exclusive raptor that has up to now eluded you. The natural bush feeling is kept inside the camp, which has the result of emphasizing guest privacy. ... more   less
