Satara restcamp is one of the larger restcamps in the Kruger Park. It is located in a landscape dominated by grassland and therefore attracts both grazers as well as predators. During our one night stay we encountered a group of three rhino’s, a large herd...More
Stayed 2-5 May, for three nights, privately.
Satara is very centrally located at Kruger National Park, which is convenient for day trips far and wide. This was my third stay, always in one of thei "rings". The hot water was not working when we moved...More
We last stayed at Satara in 2011 and found it a bit run down. Pleased that the chalets have since been revamped. The main restaurant was closed for renovations and the temporary alternative in the day visitors area is inadequate. Just an enclosed wooden area...More
Satara is our favourite rest camp based on location alone.

The two sleeper bungalows are arranged in large circles with grassed areas and trees in the middle of each circle. Satara is situated on a flat plain and therefore the views are not as good as in other rest camps and nor is it on a river. For this reason I'd not worry too much about which bungalow you hire. The main attraction is the predators in the area and I can highly recommend a morning walk in the veld with two rangers. A great experience!
