The bungalow smells bad due to the stuff they treat the wood with. The air conditioning hardly works and is loud. I am so glad that we only booked one night there. Olifants bungalow has been so much better and even cheaper. It has been the most expensive stay in Kruger with 90€ and has been really disappointing.

Took direct flight from Cape Town to Hoedspruit (SA Express), did a quick grocery shop in Hoedspruit and entered Kruger through Orpen Gate. Check-in was quick and easy. Our rondavel was clean with all the facilities we needed. The central location of Satara in Kruger is great - offering excellent game viewing. This time of year (March) very green, long...

Satara Rest Camp is located in the central area of Kruger and is situated in a part of the park where there is a lot of wildlife. The accommodation is clean and of reasonable quality but don't expect 5 star rooms. You are in the middle of the bush after all! We had a two bedroom bungalow which was very...

I have always loved satara and was really looking forward to going back. I must say reception staff were lovely and so helpful. Again mugg and bean had run out of coffee which is really not good enough. Second camp in a row. Got to our rondavel and was met by the cleaning lady who introduced herself. Very pleasant. We...

I viisted Satara, Skukuza & Pretoriuskop camps over a week. The layout of the camps are ingenious - serial rings of rondavels around an open, treed areas. The design of the rondavels seemed appropriate to my British eyes, with the accommodation/ablutions inside with cooking & sitting space under the thatched verandah. The central facilities were adequate, but restaurants varied considerably...

I stayed in a perimeter bungalow (BD2V), but was disappointed as the rondavel was in disrepair with an old noisy rattling air conditioning unit hanging off the wall, flaking paint, leaking shower and compared to a perimeter bungalow I stayed in at Lower Sabie it was considerably smaller, despite costing the same price. The bathroom was tiny, so much so...

We love to visit Kruger whenever we are in South Africa. For ani mal sightings it really never disappoints. On this trip we witnessed (off a main road totally unexpectedly) a leopard kill as well as all of tnbe other big 5. We always tell ourselves that you don't stay in the park for the accommodation but for the easy...

We stayed for 2 nights in Satara rest camp. We found the cottage clean and comfortable and slept well there. Restaurant was OK, although the dining area is a bit dark with less of a view than the few other rest camp restaurants we have seen. We did an early morning bush which was nice but not totally remarkable -...

I loved Satara each time I went last year. We stayed in the Bungalows that sleep two people each so we got a couple of them beside each other which was great for Braai that evening. Each time the bungalows were spotless with sufficient amount of electric sockets for recharging cameras etc, clean towels and fresh sheets out bright and...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Satara is a busy camp, and not without reason. It is situated in an excellent game viewing area, with the bush relatively open and the animals plentiful and diverse. The camp itself has a rustic charm, with the bulk of the accommodation set out in a series of circles. Satara is well wooded and the bird-life is prolific. At night the clink of fruit bats is fused with the chirping of cicadas and crickets. The calls of owls and nightjars add to the symphony that is punctuated intermittently by the whoop of hyena, the screech of jackal and the roars of lion. ... more   less
