The place is a motel that services folks stopping off on long N1 road trips. The services are basic, as are the rooms. Main problem for our stay was that the bin in the room was full of rubbish on arrival, plus there was poo still smeared on the inside of the toilet bowl. We ordered a twin room and...

Management response:

Dear Paul Thank you for taking the time to comment on your stay with us at Wagon Wheel Country Lodge. The room you booked online was our basic Economy Twin Room with two single beds together, when you arrived to stay with your mom you asked to be put into a room where the beds are not together, we then...

We booked the Wagon Wheel Country Lodge using their website. The photos of the establishment created positive expectations of our overnight stay. According to their price range on the website, we had booked the Deluxe Room. Unfortunately, we only checked reviews on Tripadvisor after making a booking and making a direct payment to the lodge. We found some of the...

Management response:

Dear Lauretta Thank you for your mail regarding your stay at Wagon Wheel Country Lodge, I really can't understand how if you booked a Deluxe Room on the live booking system that you ended up with a Standard Room, we have nothing to do with what room you are allocated, the live booking system books the room that you choose....

The staff is very friendly, service very good. Rooms are very basic, you get what you pay for - bed, shower & toilet with ceiling fan. Reception/restaurant/bar area very pleasant. Food very good - try the lamb neck. Reception open 24hrs which helped as I left very early. Pity that swimming pool was out of order as it was extremely...

We stayed here en route to Cape Town. We were put in a "basic" room, which consisted of one double bed, no wardrobe, no TV, no air conditioning.....not what was advertised on the website! We complained and they "upgraded" us to a family room (3 single beds, bath, no shower, very small TV... but it did have air conditioning). In...

This is an adequate but basic overnight stop on the way to Cape Town. It offers a clean room but was very cramped for a family of three. There is not much in the form of a garden although there is an island with small lawn, some trees and a pool. It must be said that the Karoo is extremely...

As we looked through images online of the Wagon Wheel lodge, we thought it would be a great place to stop and were very mistaken. No upkeep on this motel - green pools filled with mosquitoes. Rooms look nothing like the photos online. No ventilation into rooms, as doors open into hallways. Overpriced. Underwhelming. Keep browsing - Beaufort West offers...

The online pictures made me think we were going to be staying in a beautiful lodge. I was disappointed when we arrived because it is more a motel than a hotel. Other than that the place was functional nothing to write home about and we will probably not stop there again.

Such a easy place to stay over the night, we used it as a stop from JHB to CT and will definitely do it again. Relaxing on the bed now watching a flat screen TV with DSTV and aircon. Bring you swimming costume... wish I had, this town is dusty. Parking is a bit weird as you just kind of...

Very handy place to stay for an over night atop. Rooms clean and just what one needs. Had a lovely meal in the restaurant. I thought that the noise of passing trucks would keep me awake but that was not the case. They have a huge swimming pool.

The new owners are doing a great job of upgrading this lodging. It is very clean and comfortable. Karoo chops and boerekos for dinner at the restaurant very tasty. Please be aware of the water in the shower - it's either boiling hot or ice cold. A bar fridge in the rooms would be a bonus but overall good value...
