We love this place, my husband and son having also stayed at The Backpack 2 years earlier. The staff are friendly and relaxed, and the location couldn't be better, with terrific eateries just around the corner and spectacular views of Table Mountain.

The Backpack has only one fault: The locks on the small closets in the rooms (for your belongings) don't work. However, I could leave my laptop behind at reception and they watched it for me (they keep it in a room behind them). They also have safes that lock for your belongings (I was lucky enough to get one big...

I stayed here 5 years ago and loved it so much, I rebooked. Still love the vibe, the location and the services it offers, but there are a few things that disappointed me. My room smelled musty and damp. Yes, it had just rained, but it was more than that. Took a few days to smell dry again. My room...

Great atmosphere, super nice staff, delicious breakfast, good vibe. I stayed in different rooms during my stay, and all were clean and comfortable. Own bathroom isn’t really worth the extra cost, the shared bathrooms are clean and spacious. I would definitely come back to that place.

I stayed at the backpack for 4 nights. I had such a good time! I met many people but the best is the staff who will always help and the place is kept clean, its quiet, its my only place I will stay in future. You'll like this place too.

I spent a few nights at The Backpack, while on a personal trip in South Africa. The vibe is great, the people friendly, and the location is very convenient. There was a mix of people, singles, young groups, families... The rooms were clean and spacious (I stayed in a 4 person, coed dorm room most the time), and my only...

We stayed at the backpack only one night, the first night we stayed in Cape Town. Because it was full, the only 'room' that was available was the tent. The tent has enough space and two separate beds but no electricity except two solar lights. You get a lock to close the tent zippers but because the tent flaps are...

Private and dorm-style room options, centrally located, pool, bar, travelers hanging around in the lounge -- a classic hostel experience. I found the private room we stayed in to be a notch above the quality of most hostels. Nice views of the mountains too.

Highly recommend The Backpack! The facilities are lovely and the view is wonderful- the bar/lounge area & pool have a fantastic view of Table Mountain. It was such a treat to enjoy the yummy breakfast outside with the view. Our room was spacious and very comfortable- we stayed in the 3 person studio apartment. We also enjoyed learning more about...

I have stayed here a couple of times now as a back up for when my favourite hostel is not available. HOWEVER, this by no means this place isn't fantastic =] The rooms are actually very bigs and spacious. It sucks when a hostel gives you a 3x3m room with like 9 beds in it. The rooms are roughly 4...
