I stayed in one of the dorm rooms as well as a shared family room in this hostel. There was good space to lock away personal belongings for all guests. I had a lovely view of Table Mountain from the window as I slept from the bunk. I really liked the ethos of the hostel, reinvesting in the community through... More

Stayed for few days in the double room. Pros: the room was clean , freshly painted , lots of tv channels, lit of common space, evening events , view of table mountain from the pool area. Cons: Not enough parking , so you end up blocked or blocking others.(The guard doesnt really help ). Most of the reception can't provide... More

Hi there, thank you for bringing your concerns to us. All of our staff get put on training and are able to go on the tours in order to sell correct information to our guests. It comes as a disappointment to know that the service is lacking and that you felt you were not given enough information. We will make... More

Average considering the price for a private room. Reception staff very helpful and nice but overall the room smelt damp and it was noisy at night. Of course noise from other guests is variable and dependent on clientele but there was still noise from the road, the bedroom windows don't shut properly and when heavy lorries go by the room... Hi there, thank you for reviewing us. The parking is a public space and therefore we have no control over whether there will be space to park or not, it is on a first-come-first-serve basis. Same goes for the roads outside the hostel; sometimes there is a lot of traffic that we can't control either. We are glad you enjoyed... More

I traveled solo to Cape Town and stayed in a single room at The Backpack. My first night was a bit horrific. The first night I was in Celia (or Cecelia?). Strike one was that it's in the living room so basically you're literally in the middle of everything, which besides noise makes it awkward going in and out of... More

Hi there and thank you for this lengthy review of our hostel. On the positive side; we are happy to know that Thando was able to help you out and retrieve the wine that you had lost and that Portia kept your phone safe for you. The staff are great! The music is traditional, the breakfast is great ! The Guard, Joseph is great. Make sure you get parking early in the evenings, apparently the car is a safety issue to keep an eye out on. Nothing happened to ours, but we hired one, so the rule for car use, and park is "Don't leave anything... More

My 2 friends and I stayed here at the end of September for 5 days. I cannot say enough nice things about this place. It is a great hostel with a great location to good restaurants and within walking distance to Long Street. We stayed in the Desmond Tutu room and it was very clean, with a ensuite bathroom. It... Good location. Close to Table Mountain, Long St and Kloof st. Breakfast was okay - intercontinental everyday. I wish they had warm breakfasts once in a while. As well, the place was not insulated properly. My room, which slept 8, was cold every night. Good security. Friendly and helpful staff.

We stayed at the private room which was very simple but did the job. Nice atmosphere in the evening. Friendly staff. The room Was a bit pricey for the private but I suppose it's the prices in capetown. Overall we very much enjoyed our stay. Breakfast is simple.

We stayed for two nights at the backpackers. The Hostel is quite nice and clean.
