The location of this hotel is fantastic, however that is about it that the hotel has going for it. Parking is a major mission - there is no parking at the hotel so you have to park in parking facility and drag your bags through the streets to the hotel. The smell in the elevator is not pleasant. Staff are...

Stayed at the Tudor on three different occasions for four months altogether. If you stay a month (or 28 days to be correct) one can negotiate a discount which makes it even better value. After several weeks you may want a change from the breakfast provided and may also opt to pay for without and reduce the cost further. I...

It's cheap, in a very good location and rooms are spacious, but somehow this doesn't really help. Checking in seemed a chore to the 'receptionist,' who didn't greet me at all and when I finally got her 'attention,' showed more interest in her conversation with who appeared to be a friend. Other staff (not all) showed similar attitudes towards guests....

If you stay in this hotel, you are paying for the location, nothing else. The bathroom (of our room) needs a lot of elbow grease and tender loving care. The bathroom mirror was untidily attached to a nail with a piece of rope. Despite South Africa being a water poor country the basin tap dripped non-stop. Our room was small....

Central location. I had 2 rooms: 1 was tiny and noisy, the other was quiet but an almost blind window. Breakfast seemed large but poor choice. Some staff was friendly. Bathrooms not arranged "logically".

Great location. Central to everything. A great market in Greenmarket Square for all your tourist buys. Just off Long Street which is a party street. 20 minute walk to V&A Waterfront for great international shopping and food. Good variety at breakfast. WIFI broken. Unfriendly staff Super bedroom with a balcony

We have enjoyed several stays at the Tudor. Our prior visits were in higher end Hotels but they felt cold and lacked the personality of the Tudor. Yes.. it is dated but the location can't be beat and the staff are friendly, helpful and honest. The family room is excellent but it is unquestionably noisier than rooms at the back....

A last-minute booking as we needed a place to sleep. That's what we got, but considering the price it wasn't worthwhile. Noise from the street very noticeable. The entire place feels run down and dirty. Actally really visibly dirty. Ironically, the bathroom felt like the most fresh place in the room. Until we found a cockroach in it. There wasn't...

Stayed in a family suite at the Tudor on a Saturday night. The bathroom was dirty, no hot water in the hand basin, not enough towels, had to ask for soap and the shower door was hanging off. Two of the bedside lamps did not work and the beds were creaky. The double room overlooking the street was very noisy...

I have stayed at this hotel on five different occasions from 2007 to 2014. The staff remains consistent and on my visit February 2014 they remembered me from previous stay. The rooms are simple but clean and reasonably priced. The full buffet breakfast is excellent and as soon as walking in dining room, your coffee (the way you drink it)...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The TUDOR Hotel is much more than just a place to stay. Situated right in the heart of the city on Greenmarket Square with its daily African market, you will be staying in the oldest hotel in Cape Town. We are proud of our heritage and while 'old' adds atmosphere, it does not mean 'old-fashioned'. When it comes to creating comfort, the recently refurbished Tudor Hotel is a combination of contemporary finishes and the historic face of the city. The TUDOR Hotel is situated in the heart of Cape Town, next to Greenmarket Square, the vibrant Long Street and St. Georges Mall with its shops, bars and many restaurants to visit. It is only a short walking distance away from major sight seeing points, such as the Company Gardens, the Parliament and museums. Other attractions can be reached via Public Transport (MyCiti Bus Service) or by a radio taxi. Cape Town's Convention Center (CTICC) is just down Long Street and to be reached within 15 min. Walk from the TUDOR Hotel. ... more   less
