We thoroughly enjoyed An African Villa. The owners and staff treated us extremely well and we felt very much at home. The breakfasts are unbelievably delectable, the decor was unique and very comfortable, the location was perfect and we always received great recommendations for our meals. Please stay here! We can hardly wait to go back.

An African Villa is an EXCEPTIONAL hotel! This hotel ranks right up there with every other 5 star hotel I've ever stayed in! Everything about our stay was absolutely perfect! From the moment we arrived we were greeted by the friendly & courteous staff, and given a detailed orientation about the hotel, and Cape Town. The staff were incredibly helpful...

One of the beat locations in Cape Town. You can quite safely amble around without any fear. This part of Cape Town is a great place to stay because of the close proximity to all the things to see and do. Table mountain up the hill, camps bay over the hill and the freeways are really close. We thoroughly enjoyed...

Everything in the right place. Attention to detail. Very nice breakfast. And the minute you arrive they sit with you and help you plan your itinerary of things to do and places to see. They will help you book activities, reserve restaurants, even prepare you a "to go" breakfast when you are leaving early in the am for a Safari....

We stayed at the end of September 2009 and chose it based on the comments on Trip Advisor. At the end of a two week camping safari this was just perfect, they made us feel so welcome. Even from the reservation stage they were so helpful and full of advice. We loved the welcome introduction and orientation on arrival, especially...

We stayed in a Platinum room, with a beautiful view of Table Mountain from the back of the house, and a spacious bedroom. We were charmingly welcomed, provided with a map, suggestions for eating and activities given to us, a full tour, and we settled in well. The decor is lovely, although the bathroom finish really does let it down....

Many thanks to tal27 for your helpful comments. The owners, being perfectionists, are always on the lookout for ways of improving on our offering. We are very aware of the shortfalls of one or two of our bathrooms. We have already refurbished 4 of our bathrooms and have put in place a roster of upgrades for the balance, but unfortunately,...

My wife is relatively hard to impress. And she has a soft spot for really fancy, luxurious hotels (like Ritz Carlton). And from the moment we entered she was loving this place. Greeted at the door by one of the owners, Louis, we were treated to an hour-long personalized orientation of Cape Town. Louis went through my wife's list of...

We arrived at 11.00am and had expected to have to leave our luggage and go off for the day as we would be too early for check in. We were delighted to find that our room was already available and we were immediately welcomed in to the property. We stayed in a Bronze room which is on the ground floor....

We were deeply distressed to read of the unhappy experience of a report by maccasjg. Noise is a very tricky problem to deal with in a small hotel such as ours, which derives much of its charm from the fact that it is compact and 'house-like' in character (an environment which attracts many guests away from large hotels to the...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
This Villa is much more than that! It is in fact three houses which are part of a Victorian terrace dating from 1892. The double story houses have been joined together and so the inside spaces are much larger than the facade suggests. It's like walking into a TARDIS someone has written on Tripadvisor! There are 12 rooms and the hotel is owner managed.Location is vital when choosing a spot for you vacation and this more than a Villa is within an easy walk of all tourist attractions in the city area. The others (like the fabulous beaches) are a short taxi ride away. There is a small plunge pool in a peaceful courtyard where a very full breakfast is served in summer. (In winter there's a sociable dining room and an eco-friendly fire blazing). Your hosts are very careful to offer you as much information as you want and they will arrange car rental, restaurant reservations, tours etc. As required.Free internet on 2 computers in a library area and wireless access is available in all rooms. At night the night porter will set out complimentary sherry and port and at other times there is an honesty bar and guest fridge in the kitchen. Parking is on street and there is no charge (street guards patrol) but you should not need a car from this well placed hotel. ... more   less
