What a lovely surprise this overnight stay was! A true gem if capetown, for backpacking travelers or even non-backpackers traveling on a budget. The rooms are clean and well kept. The bathrooms are in good condition and the services include free wifi and communal computers. A breakfast is included, which is a very basic, self help spread - but you...

We stayed here one night because it was a cheap last minute booking. The room was clean and staff friendly. The breakfast was an instant coffee with a toast, it didn't really speak to us. Walking distance to v&a.

I stayed at Big Blue for 10 nights, and I really enjoyed it. The old building with high ceilings and wooden floor is amazing. The kitchen is big and has everything you need, the staff is friendly and there's free Wifi in the whole buidling. The free breakfast in the morning is simple, but all you need to start your...

I am full of mixed feelings about this place. First, the friendliness and helpfulness of the reception staff is highly mixed. There is a young man in his 20s who is extremely nice and helpful. There is a older man with a small stature who was unfriendly and unhelpful, providing me poor information when I asked for transportation options to...

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Rooms were spacious and clean. Massive kitchen to prepare meals and great entertainment area. Could not believe price included a free breakfast. EXCELLENT VALUE FOR MONEY!!

Smoky bar, lots of interesting people, neat old building, very basic accommodation, nice location for the price. The staff are helpful, free breakfast is very basic. The private rooms outside the main building were quiet.

Very good location and a friendly staff. Our room was very cold for his winter stay - no heating in the room. But the bed was comfy and warm under the covers. We stayed in room #8 on he second floor. Women's WC and shower were down the hall; the men's were down the stairs. The place was clean.

Went as a group, the place was great very clean with free WiFi that worked very well. ordered a few drinks at the bar and they went down well. Apart from the pool that was very disappointing it was not cleaned and didn't look appealing at all.

I stayed for 5 nights in a 4 beds private room. It was the best decision for us, since we could arrive home late without disturbing anyone and lock all our things in the room during the day. The hostel is fairly clean considering the size of it. It has a nice area with a pool, pool table, bar and...

I stayed at Big blue for 4 nights and the day to check out couldn't have come any sooner. The entire hostel but especially the rooms were so insanely uncomfortably hot that I could barely sleep at night and if you even attempted to nap during the day that was a joke because you would just be drenched in sweat....
