An excellent location overlooking the Table mountain. A walking distance from V&A waterfront. Rooms were spacious. Felt like a home away from home. Breakfast was great. The staff was very friendly. Area around is very safe and you can visit the waterfront even in the late evening.

We stayed at House on the Hill during a 5 day visit in June 2016. Very friendly owners, nice clean rooms, good location and cosy atmosphere. Arranging tours, air port pick-ups (even after long delays) or plain advice about the city, it's all possible. Great value for money!

The place is exactly like a hostel except that it has private rooms. The bathrooms are very small, just enough for one person to stand. The toiletries are below average. First day, there was clogging in the shower, which they readily repaired. The room had good facilities like refrigerator, extra table fan, kettle, cutlery etc. The breakfast was just average... We liked our stay at House in the Hill. It is cheap and on the same time there's everything you need. The area seemed really safe and parking was always available in front of the house. We stayed in two in room number 5, as it was the only twin-bedroom available. It was clean, there was enough space and everything... More

The first thing me and my friend loved about this place was its colorful decor. It was so artistic and creative. The german lady at the reception, I apologise for not recalling her name, was so cooperative and nice. She made us feel totally at home. We switched our room for a bigger one without any hassle. There is a... More

The location is excellent, with very good restaurants a few hundred metres away. The waterfront is about a 10 minute walk, and the centre city is easily accessible by share taxi, or by walking. Rooms are comfortable, although small and simple. It’s a safe area. Parking is on the street, but it’s in a quiet no-through street. There are some... More

Having never been to S.A before we were a little nervous about picking a safe place in a nice location. House on the hill, is walking distance to the city, the waterfront and the beach, green point is a lovely part of the city. The rooms have nice high ceilings, big & comfortable beds and represent great value for money.... More
