I stayed at the Charles guest house and was given discount vouchers for breakfast for the Charles cafe. I'm so glad I was. Even without vouchers I would have returned every day to this beautiful cafe for breakfast. It's balcony is perfectly situated so you can sit in the warm sun and enjoy your morning coffee. The only complaint I...

I had a booking for 5 day, but stayed there only one. When I arrived the room did not seem clean, towels and bed sheets were dirty. After pointing it out the girl(do not know name) was very helpful trying to fix the problems. Another "surprise" was that it was very noisy, since the room was next to the kitchen....

This was not our first choice of hotel and I was nervous about it but it turned out very well! We felt like we had our own little house, we had our own front door into a large dining /sitting room then into a big bedroom (strangely with a free standing bath in it) and then into a shower room....

Stayed for 3 nights and it was fine but nothing more. Pros: big room, central location, modern bathroom, the cafe in the same building is excellent as are surrounding restaurants. Cons: no air conditioning, blinds broken, some windows would not stay open, less frequently used furniture (desk) very dirty, voucher for breakfast only 80 rand and the staff don't really...

Excelent location in the old town with easy walking to harbour or city. Rooms clean and tidy with good breakfast in pretty location. Ideal for young people. Would certainly recommend and revisit if retuning to Cape Town Not quite a hotel ,more of a B and B.

After many holidays in CT, this one one of the very best: Brilliant little hotel, run by warm, welcoming, immensely likable staff, in a fabulous location. The breakfasts/light meals are first rate and delectable, and the coffee outstanding. It was such a happy experience all round - cant wait to go back!

This is an interesting establishment. De Waterkant village is a destination in itself on high ground with fine views over the city and boasts a ‘super chic’ shopping mall. The V&A waterfront is about 20 minutes away on foot. So far so good. But then it gets better as the personnel at The Charles add to the mix with their...

I stayed at the guest house 2 weeks ago and enjoyed my stay for the most. The room was nice and was in a good location. During my stay we asked about the Robben Island trip and the receptionist offered to book our tickets. When we went to the dock on the Thursday we discovered that the tickets had been...

We stayed at The Charles for 3 nights, early September. Our booking just said 'De Waterkant Village', so we had no idea exactly where we were meant to go. We were directed to The Charles, and luckily that's where we were staying. First impressions were good; we were greeted by Dorian who was a cheery soul and showed us to...
