Rolf was the perfect host at this excellent Guest House. Not only did we have an great room to stay in and an excellent breakfast but it was easy to integrate with other guests and get on with everyone we met. Rolf also provided great information about the locality, places to visit and ideas for things we wanted to do.

This was our second time and we were greeted like friends by Rolf, the owner. It is a quiet Guest House with a lovely garden and small pool. the rooms are very comfortable, all on the ground floor, and well kept. It is within walking distance of the town centre and restaurants, so very convenient.

There is a lot to say for the Hortensia Lodge. Rooms are comfortable, it is within walking distance from town centre, the owner is gracious and knowledgeable, the garden is beautiful and the pool is refreshing, A place to return to. One thing needs to be said, alas: since the owner is from German origin, the place tends to attract...

Hermanus is a fun but pretty pricey town. Hortensia is one of many B&B's. L:ike so many, it is hard to see much from the outside because of the gate, but it has a nice yard in which several couples were enjoying their wine. Also a very nice pool. Most of all the owner was very friendly and accommodating. The...

We stayed for two nights. The owner Rolf was really good, he advised us of the best places to visit. A lovely clean and bright bungalow with nice rooms. The breakfast was good and a welcome change from the usual 'English Breakfast' that most owners think we Brits want all the time. Thoroughly recommend.
