We had the upstairs suite, beautiful views across the bay, drinks in the mini bar included nice to have the toilet separate from the bathroom and 4 wash hand basins. Gave us good recommendations for the restaurants in Hermanus

Our family of five stayed in one of the chalets for a couple of nights mid-Dec. There was a large verandah with a seafront view where we took meals. Three bathrooms and three bedrooms and a well equipped kitchen. Very comfortable! A handy location on the outskirts of Hermanus. There are quite a few things to do in Hermanus itself...

What a magnificent guest house. We stayed in the seahorse room the first night and was perfect for my husband myself and three kids. The room was large and had two extra rooms for the kids. We moved to the crayfish self catering cottage for the next two nights. The cottage had the most exquisite view and was massive with...

Schulphoek was the perfect choice for my family. You can read other reviews about the amazing rooms, stunning location on the ocean, and the absolutely exquisite food served in the restaurant. I want to acknowledge the dedicated and devoted staff to their guests and to the guesthouse experience. It is the staff who made our trip so memorable. My 10-year-old...

Don't be put off by the approach. What with the road works and the light industrial units as you leave the highway. Oh yes and the township. Hold your nerve, head to the coast and there is your location, right on the edge of the rocky and unspoilt sea scape where peaceful tranquility awaits. The rooms are spacious and well...

Unfortunately we could only stay for one night in this guesthouse. The rooms are very comfortable and nicely decorated. The food is very good especially served with a big choice of excellent wines. We have to come back!

We stayed for 2 nights in the Limpet Room, one of the larger rooms. By large, that really should state "Grande". Very generous sized bedroom and a bathroom that was enormous - it even had it's own settee! Very high quality features and fittings. Service (restaurant and room) was attentive without being intrusive. Erica, the general manager, is lovely and...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Schulphoek guesthouse overlooks the bay from which it received its name - an idyllic expanse of ocean, where whales are frequent visitors. Beyond its quiet beaches, you will find nature paths and bird watching. Just 5km from Hermanus centre, Schulphoek offers an eco-conscious refuge, with seven sumptuously decorated suites that overlook either our garden or the sea. Food is our passion. You will find a three-course menu du jour, served at our social table (or separate) with organic produce from our potager garden and fresh-line fish. Our cellar is a haven for aficionados, featuring 12,000 bottles of local wine. ... more   less
