The hotel has charm and is situated in the centre of town which allows one to walk all over town. The staff, which were there on our previous visits, are friendly and accommodating. We loved our stay and are looking forward to visiting again.

The staff were very friendly. We were doing the knysna half marathon and were accommodated with early breakfast. Nice central location. Were able to walk the the fare grounds and shops. The gym is top class. Rooms are slightly old but didn't take away or hamper an excellent weekend.

The staff greeted us with curteousness the evening and have been most accommodating. Our room was/is cleaned every day when we come from an event. The kitchen staff made us special omelettes. The muffins were a winner and after our featherbed run i made a bee line for the kitchen to get a second helping.

A warm welcome and offering information about town and nightlife in Knysna. There is access to a huge gym with all sorts of equipment which is great after a day on the road. The room is modern and welcoming and warm, tv/dstv, coffee/tea facility. Love the charm of the old retro building. Parking in front of building with night porter... More

We spent a weekend at the Royal Hotel. The bathroom was clean and tidy. The bed was comfortable. Some stains on the carpet bothered me. Otherwise clean with a good, but not brilliant, breakfast. There is a gym available.

Value for money, no frills no fuss. Good for a quick overnight stay. Wouldn't recommend for a long term stay, very basic. Clean, neat and well priced. We stayed there with our little boy, so suitable for family visits. We also booked very late on booking.com and all was fine.

We had an excellent time. A couple of friends just looking for a place to sleep, ended up chilling in the courtyard rather than going out like we planned. Piet was in top form, and knows how to make you feel good. Prices are reasonable, definite value for money.

This is an old hotel that has been saved by turning it into a B&B and letting the remaining property out to business. No bar, no supper or lunch. The rooms are adequate with clean linen, airco, a shower and toilet, small desk, TV (only SABC and Etv), safe parking and really friendly staff. My wife prefers pork sausages to... More

This lovely old hotel is so different from the ubiquitous impersonal marble and glass modern accomodation offered elsewhere. On arrival we were greeted warmly and made to feel welcome. We stayed overnight mid-week in the main building. The bedrooms were spacious, with high ceilings. The beds were wonderfully comfortable with crisp linen and firm pillows. Although our rooms were on... More
