We visited The St James early August. We arrived after spending the afternoon kayaking and were cold and tired. The staff were welcoming and genuinely lovely. We mentioned at dinner it was our anniversary and returned to a bottle of fizz. The food was outstanding, the service exceptional and the accommodation first class (the electric blankets were a welcome addition... More

Very nice establishment with spacious well appointed suite -- wonderful view and nice gardens. The public rooms - bar / lounge, restaurant / breakfast area overlooked the water and were nicely decorated. Meals were satisfactory but we seemed to have a communication problem with wait-staff though nothing worth voicing a complaint. Reception staff were welcoming and helpful. It was extremely... More

A wonderful stay, but would have preferred the rooms with less noise from the road but as we booked a little late had to take what was available. Staff very friendly and helpful at all times. Food was overall very good.

We were met by a very friendly man on reception who showed us to our spacious and well appointed room, equipped with large bathroom. As it was Sunday night and few restaurants open locally, we dined in. The food was very reasonably priced and fine, although the vegetarian option was tasty but lacked finesse. Breakfast was OK but not impressive.... More

Welcome at the reception was friendly assisted with bags, and provide things for us to do on our stay. The room was clean and comfortable, however in my opinion the furniture seems a little outdated, perhaps that is the look they were going for. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious and the service form restaurant was really good. Location and... More

The hotel is situated on the lagoon before you come into Knysna properly. I had booked a courtyard room. The room was very spacious and well appointed. The staff were excellent and made me very welcome. Breakfast had plenty of choices from a continental breakfast to a cooked menu were the food was cooked for you. Because of the location... More

I spent one night in this lovely guest house. All the rooms are very large and most of it are suits with setting area. The house which seems to be an old building renovated recently locates directly near the lake. The location has a high security environment and it has a beautiful dining area.

We were surprised to approach the hotel down a track and were not sure what we were coming to! The gates opened and we were ushered into the most wonderful hotel. The staff were fabulous very proffessional. We had a beautiful stand alone room. Everything was wonderful. We ate breakfast outside on the terrace. It was the most perfect setting.... More
