Found this hotel on the reviews and photos. Sometimes disappointment follows. But not here. Position was good. Service excellent. Room was very nice being good size and window was screened on outside by green vine. A nice feature. I think I paid on a special price but it was excellent value. A really nice boutique hotel. Definitely recommended.

Hard to find a place just like in the photos, but this one is. The location is about 20 minutes from the Aeroparque Jorge Newberry by taxi in Retiro neighborhood- took us 140 pesos to get there by official airport taxi. It's a little oasis of tranquility, from the warm soft color of the room to the wood used all...

Visited with my wife and really liked it here. The location is great, there's plenty in the immediate area, or you can take a walk (20-30 mins) to the San Telmo neighborhood. The rooms were really comfortable, and the AC was appreciated on a muggier than normal fall night. The staff is great. If you've never been to Buenos Aires,...

We spent two nights at Casa Calma at the tail end of our Argentina trip, having kicked off the trip with a few nights in the Palermo neighborhood. It was quite a difference in venue! Casa Calma, first of all, is lovely. The lobby and common areas are bright and green, thanks to the live plants growing along the walls....

We stayed a couple of nights at Casa Calma. This place was just fine, but I think given the value we were able to find elsewhere in our Argentina accommodations, this was slightly disappointing. The customer service at the front desk was fine, but somewhat more impersonal and bureaucratic than at several of our other hotels. They seemed annoyed and...

We were there after our 10 day stay in Lujan for golf school. We were welcomed with a very friendly, informed and knowledgeable English speaking staff. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and they make a great cup of American coffee....which I had missed in our previous location.

We booked based on the positive reviews and were not disappointed. All staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. Very good breakfast, especially compared to most in Argentina.

We had such a comfortable stay at Casa Calma. The room was truly a restorative haven with the hot tub and sauna and soft bedding and towels. The array of bath products was perfect for maximizing the use of the room's amenities and the lighting, which was a combo of overhead, table and natural light from the balcony, was an...

Casa Calma is in a great location, the breakfast is fantastic and not to be missed. The front desk is exceptional! They were able to book us the BEST tango/dinner show ever, found us a wonderful guide and driver to show us the city for the 5 hours. He took us to a local restaurant that we loved for the...

Casa Calma is a find and deserves all of its good reviews. It's a tiny hotel but it's service is genuinely exceptional. Reservation staff sent me detailed emails before check in about how to make transport arrangements and delivered on an early check in for us - invaluable with a child. We had two rooms on one floor for a...

Staying in Retiro

Neighbourhood Profile
Exquisite palaces and luxurious apartment buildings combine with art galleries and exclusive boutiques to make Retiro the perfect spot for those who enjoy sophistication. However, the non-stop foot traffic to and from Retiro train and bus terminals, accompanied by the myriad of trucks leaving and arriving at the port, mean this neighbourhood is never truly at rest. One minute you are walking down a street dotted with ornate mansions and luxurious shop windows and the next you find yourself surrounded by a sea of people racing to catch their train or bus. It is this juxtaposition of never-ending comings and goings and quiet, elegant luxury that defines Retiro, as well as Buenos Aires, a city where sharp contrasts are all around.
