Buenos Aires is a vibrant and noisy city. Casa Calma is located in Retiro in a quiet street (Suipacha), close from San Martin Square, Avenida 9 de Julio, and Ricoleta. Many restaurants, and shopping. Close to Florida where you can change USD at a good rate (1USD=12/13 pesos. Official rate is 1USD=8,51). If you pay your bill in USD cash,... More

All li can say is that CASA CALM is a haven. From the moment you knock on the door and are warmly welcomed into a home you are cared for. The vibe of the place is calmness itself. My room had been thought through to the light positions, the small working desk, the positon of the lights and CD/DVD player,... More

This hotel was small only 17 rooms I think. The rooms were large with a large open plan bathroom with a jacuzzi bath a separate shower plus separate loo. Bed was very comfy. We didn't have a view from out room but there were lovely fronds hanging down making the room very peaceful. The desk staff were brilliant recommending restaurants... More

Not certain I have much to add to the other excellent reviews of this facility, but I'll echo all of the accolades given by others. Charming boutique hotel in an excellent location for seeing a number of the top sights of BA. We walked to Recoleto Cemetary and to the Belles Artes Museum, and it was a relatively inexpensive ride... More

All that and a great location too. We've never stayed in a hotel quite like it. More like a cross between a B&B and a Health Spa. The rooms are sort of Scandinavian minimalist. We even had our own sauna. The location is great, convenient to everything. Some great cafés and restaurants nearby. And the staff are so friendly, and... More

Lovely little boutique hotel (18 rooms), with good sized rooms in a great convenient location. Staff were incredibly helpful when we had a problem with one of our pick ups and they went out of their way to arrange an alternative. Would highly recommend

This eco-friendly hotel is small, but chic with spacious rooms (ours included a jaccuzzi and sauna), and a modest, but solid breakfast. It's centrally located - within walking distance of various sites and in close proximity to transportation options to other neighborhoods. There are plenty of bars, restaurants and retail shops nearby and Casa Calma is a retreat from them... More

Very good hotel, close to the centre. Excellent help was given from the reception with suggestion of best restaurants, tango shows and places to visit. The breakfast in the room is served free of charge and it has a very good value. I really suggest to go in this hotel, good value for the money.

The staff was waiting for us with recommendations and suggestions when we arrived, and again after we'd been in Patagonia for five days. Attention to detail shined through when we returned and found our stored luggage in our new rooms with a plate of cookies, a bottle or water and a note that read, "Welcome Back." The rooms are spacious... More

This is a perfectly placed hotel for those who like to walk rather than take taxis. The only place we didn't walk to was to la Boca which was a bit far even for me. The rooms are great and the breakfast even better. One thing I would have liked in the room was a kettle for making tea but... More

Staying in Retiro

Neighbourhood Profile
Retiro
Exquisite palaces and luxurious apartment buildings combine with art galleries and exclusive boutiques to make Retiro the perfect spot for those who enjoy sophistication. However, the non-stop foot traffic to and from Retiro train and bus terminals, accompanied by the myriad of trucks leaving and arriving at the port, mean this neighbourhood is never truly at rest. One minute you are walking down a street dotted with ornate mansions and luxurious shop windows and the next you find yourself surrounded by a sea of people racing to catch their train or bus. It is this juxtaposition of never-ending comings and goings and quiet, elegant luxury that defines Retiro, as well as Buenos Aires, a city where sharp contrasts are all around.
