The hostel is in a very nice neighbourhood (San Telmo). You can easily go around and find everything you need. It is a mostly practical hostel, which covers the basic needs: you have a kitchen, a not so nice but useful living room and a terrace. The toilets were very dirty and the doors didnt close. In general, the hostel...

I stayed two lights in the hostel. The staff is nice and helpful. Breakfast is ok. The dorms are small and the girls dorms are noisy since they are situated on the street side. Earplugs are advisable if you have a light sleep. The good point about the hostel is that there are not two many rooms, which makes it...

We spent one week in this hostel. We loved the american loft style! Homstel Soleil felt like home! The staff was very nice, attentive and helpful. We felt the famous "Buena onda", we loved the atmosphere, it is a good place to make friends from all over the world! If we go back to BA, it is definitely the place...

This hostel was my first encounter with South America as I had just arrived to Buenos Aires. The staff was very friendly, helpful and the hostel had a great vibe. It felt like ending up in a big family home. The rooms were clean and warm. Thanks for a lovely stay!

Hostels in San Telmo are notoriously expensive nowadays, with mega-hostels popping up all over the place, while service and comfort continue to decline. This place was the opposite: affordable, friendly atmosphere, good customer service - while still being able to get a good night's sleep. Although it's in a spacious and beautiful antique building, the hostel only has a few...

Stayed one night in the front dorm which was clean and tidy. Bathrooms are small and functional. Nice stairs leads to a common area with the stained glass wall which they use as their logo. Overall, not the plushest place but does the job with the old building as a bonus.

Staying in San Telmo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Telmo
Characterized by cobblestones and narrow streets, San Telmo is defined by the tango, the dance that made Buenos Aires world-famous. Tango is a fusion of many different cultures: a true child of immigration, much like the city itself. Nowadays, it comes alive after dark in the milongas (dance parties) attended by both locals and visitors alike, who dance until the wee hours of the morning. During the day, the antique shops and classic cafés and bars around Plaza Dorrego dominate the scene. The emblematic Bar Plaza Dorrego, with its green awnings, checkered tile floors, and wooden interiors, takes you back in time the moment you step inside. For true porteño traditions, San Telmo is the place to be.
