I chose this hotel based on its location and price. The room I was supposed the share with a girlfriend was supposed to have 2 beds instead of one. Luckily she didn't come and it didn't matter. My room was dated and very noisy due to its location. The bathroom was quite small, too. However, the housekeeping was excellent and... More

Where to begin...the reason why we booked at this hotel was the location and also because the price for 6 nights for a 4star hotel, was quite reasonable. The location is really good, the Suipacha street get's directly to the main 9 de Julio, where you have the Obelisco, the BA sign etc.. Also across the hotel there is a... More

Hotel is just OK - if you are in a rush, need only a place to sleep and shower, it is ok and it has a fair price too. Room is old-ish, it has been renewed, but it has also been worn out. No fancyness - breakfast is oK too.

Very nice hotel with very luxury definitions. High quality blankets and pillows, very clean rooms. I enjoyed my bath with hot water... ... Breakfast was fantastic ! In the heart of Buenos Aires.... nearby the underground (subway), buses and car-free shopping streets. And the 'booking' room-price was very confortable.

Reception service was always excellent giving me choices and always saying my request was possible. We were a family of five members, therefore taxis are not easy to get but Reception suggested a special car called ' Cangu' which could carry 5 suitcases!, so we took 2 taxis. Rooms were very cleaned and adjacent just very convenient to our needs.... More

When I first got to the hotel for a workshop I wasn't too happy. The hotel needs to be renovated, especially downstairs. It has a dark "80's" feel to it. Also, the room was very small and basic. However, there were some great things about this hotel which made me decide to give it a higher rating. The bathroom was... More

The Regente Palace hotel is very well located in the center of Buenos Aires. The staff offer exellent service and the breakfast buffet is one of the best I have tried. The rooms are clean, spacious and the beds can hardly get any better. Total knockout, once on the pillow. The Restaurant and the bar are very good and the... More

Staying in Retiro

Neighbourhood Profile
Retiro
Exquisite palaces and luxurious apartment buildings combine with art galleries and exclusive boutiques to make Retiro the perfect spot for those who enjoy sophistication. However, the non-stop foot traffic to and from Retiro train and bus terminals, accompanied by the myriad of trucks leaving and arriving at the port, mean this neighbourhood is never truly at rest. One minute you are walking down a street dotted with ornate mansions and luxurious shop windows and the next you find yourself surrounded by a sea of people racing to catch their train or bus. It is this juxtaposition of never-ending comings and goings and quiet, elegant luxury that defines Retiro, as well as Buenos Aires, a city where sharp contrasts are all around.

“Check out the sweater shop next door and the coffee shop at the end of the block in the other direction. If you want a good leather store, you can walk to Silvia y Mario at M.T. de Alvear 550. The store has fabulous leather coats, vests, jackets etc. and they can custom make anything for you in a pretty short time.”
