The hotel is very well located, a two minute walk from Plaza de Mayo. Our room was small, the lobby area was big, and the complementary breakfast was fantastic! It featured fresh fruits, pastries, a selection of teas, coffee, juices, water, yogourts, cereals, breads, jams, and dulce de leche! The front desk staff was very helpful and fluent in English.

One block from Place de Mayo and bus no 8 to the airport (Warning! Takes 2,5 hours!) and also very near the ferry port, trains and bus station. Small but OK room, OK breakfast, near to many restaurants, I would absolutely stay here again!

We knew that this one was an affordable hotel, nothing luxurious but it was old, tired and depressing despite well located and clean sheets. The pictures online, nothing to do with the reality. We stayed 4 nights and 2 nights in a row we had to phone to reception because there was a group of people, 02.00 am making a...

We stayed just one night at Uthgra de las Luces. Pluses: The location is excellent, walking distance to a number of museums, Plaza del Mayo, subway, even the ticket office for the hop on/hop off bus. The desk staff we talked to were both exceptionally helpful, recommending places to eat and calling taxis for us. We left our baggage and...

The hotel is located smack in the middle of the city centre. Very close to Casa Rosada, the borough of San Telmo and pretty much all the things you need to visit in Buenos Aires. Rooms are small and clean, but noisy. Staff is nice enough. Breakfast could be better (very few choices and lacks fresh fruit).

I'm so sorry telling you that Hotel de Las Luces, at 525, Calle Adolfo Alsina, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, was the second worst hotel I've stayed in my life. The staff uncapable to help with luggages, very rough and unsympathetic. Ripped towels with holes and smoke smelling, besides malfunction air conditioned, seems to be regular. Staff use to roughly hit...

Great location, right on city center and close to metro stations and touristic attractions. The bathroom was very small but the room itself was not so bad, just a little bit old. The breakfast could be better.

If you are looking for location, you probably cannot beat this hotel. It is two or three blocks from the Casa Rosada, a block from the Bolivar Subte Station, an easy walk to San Telmo. The rooms are adequate, as is the breakfast. The staff is friendly and helpful. Some rooms are better than others, we came back and were...

This hotel is run by the UNION DE TRABAJADORES DEL TURISMO, HOTELEROS Y GASTRONOMICOS DE LA REPUBLICA ARGENTINA (UTHGRA) or the Labor Union of the country's hotel industry. It should be a Flagship of their "savoir faire", a source of pride and excellence. But It is run like a small family business in an outdated building. Comfort of rooms is...

Staying in Montserrat

Neighbourhood Profile
Montserrat
As part of the historic quarter of Buenos Aires, Montserrat is defined by the historical events that took place there and the landmarks that have stood the test of time. The Plaza de Mayo is at the center of this connection to history: countless public demonstrations have passed through this square, going back to the May Revolution of 1810. Walking the streets of Montserrat allows us to imagine what Buenos Aires may have looked like in the past: the Cabildo takes us back to the late 16th century, while the Palacio Barolo and the traditional cafés carry us to the early 20th. Nowadays, the neighbourhood is inundated every day by office workers, buses, and taxis; still, the cobblestones, narrow sidewalks, and subway stations from the 1910s remind us that we are surrounded by history everywhere we look.
