Stayed here once and although it is central and reasonably clean the staff were inhospitable and unfriendly. got locked out of my room as a wardrobe in the room miraculously opened itself blocking the door from opening. I asked the assembled staff to help in my best Spanish. They were too involved in a Saturday night chit chat with their...

We had images of this hotel being a nightmare after looking at the reviews on here. We had a night here included in our trip and had booked alternative accommodation for after. But on arrival we were pleasantly surprised. I wouldn't call it a romantic, classy or anything special hotel, just a normal, nothing special but clean well positioned sleeping...

Very basic, the rooms are not very clean. But its centrally located. Talking to other people. You can find much better accomodation in the area at a similar price. So give it a miss.

I can only agree with the other reviews and found my experiences similar; I also stayed here because it was recommended by GAP Adventures... they really need to change hotels. - The lift was broken most of the time and had the feeling you were going to get stuck with it did work (weird scraping noises!) - The electricity was...

I stayed in this hotel because it was the starting hotel for my tour group. It was one of the worst hotels I have stayed in. The beds are small and uncomfortable, the airconditioners are noisy and the rooms are really small. Feels like a bit of a firetrap. Its only positive is that its very centrally located, just a...

Having read the reviews on trip advisor about a week before going to BA, I almost booked myself in elsewhere, but decided against it as it was already paid for as part of a GAP tour. The location is good, and fortunately the lift was working when I arrived (though broke soon after, I get the impression this happens a...

Stayed here as part of a tour involving stays at some 7 budget hotels across South America - this was by far the worst. The hotel receptionist on arrival was rude and unhelpful beyond belief - our tour leader had to spend considerable time arguing with her since she had made a mistake in her rooms division. The rooms are...

This was our first hotel of an 8 month trip around the world and frankly, this was one of the worsts places we staid. Reception area is uninspiring hall with two old couches. The lady at reception was not very helpful or polite. The elevator was verry old and small and had trouble descending. You do not want to use...

Staying in Montserrat

Neighbourhood Profile
Montserrat
As part of the historic quarter of Buenos Aires, Montserrat is defined by the historical events that took place there and the landmarks that have stood the test of time. The Plaza de Mayo is at the center of this connection to history: countless public demonstrations have passed through this square, going back to the May Revolution of 1810. Walking the streets of Montserrat allows us to imagine what Buenos Aires may have looked like in the past: the Cabildo takes us back to the late 16th century, while the Palacio Barolo and the traditional cafés carry us to the early 20th. Nowadays, the neighbourhood is inundated every day by office workers, buses, and taxis; still, the cobblestones, narrow sidewalks, and subway stations from the 1910s remind us that we are surrounded by history everywhere we look.
