Oh, Uruguay 911, how I've missed you. Simply put, the guest house is just lovely. The rooms are huge, the common area is leather-sofa-ed and inviting (unlike so many shared spaces we travelers oft encounter), the bathrooms are cleaned constantly. And Paz, who runs the place, is smart, cool and fun in addition to being a responsible and informative host....

We came to the Guest House not ever having been in Buenos Aires and we left feeling like it was home and wanting to stay for a long time! The rooms were comfortable, cleaned daily and breakfast with fresh squeezed juice every morning. Paz is THE BEST! She took GREAT care of us weary travelers. Laid back, great music and...

Yira Yira is indeed a gem among gems. It is all that is advertised and more. The rooms are large and spacious and have access to a private balcony or the patio in addition to the great central living areas with an “at home” friendly atmosphere. Location is awesome, close “walking distance” to all of the neighborhoods in Buenos Aires,...

Staying in Retiro

Neighbourhood Profile
Retiro
Exquisite palaces and luxurious apartment buildings combine with art galleries and exclusive boutiques to make Retiro the perfect spot for those who enjoy sophistication. However, the non-stop foot traffic to and from Retiro train and bus terminals, accompanied by the myriad of trucks leaving and arriving at the port, mean this neighbourhood is never truly at rest. One minute you are walking down a street dotted with ornate mansions and luxurious shop windows and the next you find yourself surrounded by a sea of people racing to catch their train or bus. It is this juxtaposition of never-ending comings and goings and quiet, elegant luxury that defines Retiro, as well as Buenos Aires, a city where sharp contrasts are all around.
