We went as part of our honeymoon. Positives - comfortable beds, good air con. Location is amazing. Staff are extremely friendly and accommodating. I was slightly disappointed to be put in room 1 (which you have to pass to get to at least 6 other rooms). I was assured there would be privacy but it was loud and not private at all: couldn’t leave the curtains open or enjoy the view without people staring into our room. I made it clear we wanted a private and quiet room but got the opposite. Our room was staggered and on different levels. The bathroom had a tiny light so you shower in darkness. There was only a thin curtain around the shower. The shower head was a rain full head but secured close to the wall at an angle. I had the shower on for a few minutes to warm up and ended up blooming the bathroom AND bedroom. They replaced the head with another, secured by tape; and promised a whole new unit the following day when we were out on a tour. We never got this and had to use the shower with a knackered head (half the wholes were blocked and water mainly came out of two). I was really disappointed with this as was scared it would fall on me every time I showered. Overall a great location, lovely restaurant in front of hotel, comfortable bed, air con and nice room. But just some little details and plumbing issues which kind of ruined it for us. Shame they didn’t care …
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here from start to finish. Our room was number 10 high up on the hill (153 steps up, to be exact). It had beautiful views of Drake Bay and with the lush jungle all around, provided an amazing display of nature with birds and wildlife everyday. Saw monkeys, toucans, macaws and various other birds right from our balcony! There are several hiking paths nearby the property. Our luggage was portered up the stairs for us (thank heavens!). The restaurant attached to the hotel - Claudio’s Bar and Grill was excellent and served up a nice variety of anything you could want for breakfast lunch and supper. The piña coladas were decadent. The hotel booked all of our tours (hikes into San Pedrillo and Sirena stations in Corcovado, Snorkelling at Caño Island and a Night walk with guide - Jose Huertos) for us which were all excellent. What made this place stand out though was the amazing and friendly staff. We got to know many of them - Carlos, Jeffery, Ashley, Ashley, Carolina, Gaynor, Orlando, Bertram, Michael, Yordy, Elizabeth and Alonso. They were like friends by our last day. I can’t say enough about their helpful service and suggestions and general caring nature. When back in Drake Bay, I will definitely stay here again.…
Loved that this hotel was a bit outside of town and right on the nature hike that goes around the peninsula. We enjoyed that it was easy to get to town and also easy to hike the trail to beautiful secluded beaches. Our room was up a bit of stairs as everyone mentions, but once up there the views are incredible and you are in the jungle! But hands down our favorite part of the hotel was the restaurant at the bottom. We ended up eating there every night even after we moved to a different hotel. We wanted to try everything on the menu, and it did not disappoint! Best food in town!
Amazing! We loved everything about this place. So nice and helpfull people that will do anything to make your stay pleasant. We had 4 wonderfull days. Guided tour to Corcovado, Snorkling at Isla del Cano and a nice walk to the beautiful Cocalito beach. We would recommend this hotel any time!
A great place to stay. The staff was fantastic. We really enjoyed ourselves. The location was very nice with good views of the bay and close proximity to the town and all the things to see and do in the area.
We were staying at Jinetes de Osa and had an awesome time. We hat a nice room with a great view over drake bay with a lot of red Aras in the trees around us. The stuff was extremly nice and helpful. And we loved the diving at the Isla del Cano and Orlando took us to Corcovado National Park and we had a stunning experience Boy seeing two Tapires, Tucans, Aras, a lot of Monkeys, an owl and a lot more. Thanks for the great time.
This is not a luxury hotel, but with the gorgeous views of Drake Bay and the warm welcome and assistance we received from the staff, it was a nice home base for our Drake Bay and Corcovado adventures. My family and I stayed in one of the air conditioned rooms that were up about 150 stairs from the Kalaluna Bistro and main entrance. My more fit family members had no problem with the stairs; I had to take them kind of slowly, but it was not a huge issue. Those with knee problems or other physical limitations should be aware of the stairs when booking. Fortunately, you don’t have to carry your luggage up or down the stairs; the staff drive it up and down by ATV via a “secret” route!
Hotel Jinetes was a fabulous find!! The staff went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our stay. We stayed in casita #12(I think it was called "ocean view suite")and it was perfect. Yes - it was ~ 155 steps to get there but the view was so worth it!! The suite was very large and our party of 5 gals fit just fine (they brought up an additional twin bed for us). The unit was nicely decorated and spotlessly clean. Beds were super-comfy and the included breakfast was excellent. We ate at the restaurant, Kalaluna, every night and the food was outstanding! It was easy to book tours (Caño snorkeling for the 2 teens and Cocovado for a day hike for the 5 of us). Javier was a fabulous guide for Corcovado so request him if you can! We also all had massages with Seyli massage in Bahia Drake, a reasonable walk from the hotel. Excellent prices and the best massage I've ever had.…
We really loved our stay here. We stayed in one of the superior ocean view rooms up the hill from the reception area. We were fine with the walk up, enjoying the opportunity for bits exercise. Our 5 y/o son never complained! The rooms nearer to the beach also looked nice actually, but the deck with the killer view and air conditioning were well worth the climb. Beds were a little hard in all honesty, but I don't travel for the beds. Everything else was perfect. I really loved the freedom to get up early, go to the communal kitchen behind our room and make a cup a coffee to enjoy on the deck before my son and husband woke up. The staff was friendly and very accommodating. We didn't book tours through the hotel, but think most people would have been well served with that option. Traveling with a somewhat high-strung 5 y/o, we needed maximum flexibility and we got it here. Tour-wise, I would make a plug for the horse back riding tour though Gringo Curt. All the other popular tours are probably pretty standard no matter who one books with. The on-site restaurant (same place as the hotel breakfast in the morning, but a separate concession for lunch and dinner) was special. We ate all our meals here w/o regret. It all depends on the experience you want in the end, but for us, Jinetes de Osa was pretty perfect fr 5 nights.…
From day one my wife and I had top notch service provided to as. One of the greatest things was being able to have one contact who took care of all out needs. He was 24/7 available for questions, recommendations, tour guide, and just to talk about the culture and many more. For divers it was great having a dive shop attached to the hotel. Also having a restaurant attached to the hotel that served all three meals was a bonus. Great WIFI as well :) I highly recommend Hotel Jinetes. Thank you for giving my wife and I a good life time
