I believe that if people comes here with the expectation of staying at a 5-star hotel, they are far from reality, although the hotel itself is very comfortable and folksy. If you come to this place you have to come with the mind open to be in the middle of nowhere and to be willing to enjoy the surroundings (even...

This is a nice hotel. The food is good and all the staff were very pleasant. That said, the room we were in had a slanted floor, so we had to prop one side of the bed up higher to feel like we weren't going to roll out onto the floor. We changed rooms for the next night and it...

Beautiful surroundings. Rooms are quiet. People are very friendly. The gate is closed by 9, and it is right off the highway, so make arrangements ahead of time to make sure they keep it open for you--there is no bell. There are natural hot spring steam/saunas, free use with a massage. A cool experience, although the saunas were kind of...

My husband and I planned a 10 day trip to guatemala, 9 days of which we spent on the lake. We thought it would be fun to take a short trip to visit the hot springs. We stayed in Las Cumbres because it was highly recommended in our guidebook. Boy were we disappointed! We walked up to a beautifully landscaped...

Las Cumbras is spectacularly situated surrounded by mountains and offers a whole program of health options: starting from the freshly prepared meals (no alcoholic beverages available), to sauna and massage and the private hot tub in the bathroom as well as a fire place in front of your huge bed - this place is a paradise for everyone in search...

I have been coming to Las Cumbres for the past 8 years to have a massage while I am visiting Xela. Yes, it is on the side of the Pacifica Highway and can be noisy, but that is where the hot springs are. I have seen it transform from a simple place to the eco-sauna it is today. I have...

We've stayed at this hotel 3 times. Why? Well, we love Xela and the Funetes Georginas, and Las Cumbres is quaint and has a (mostly) spectacular view. The rooms really are charmingly rustic, however, as with many Guatemalan establishments, they have a real problem with giving out towels. You'll get one...per bed, no matter how many people are staying in...

The reviews of this place aren't the best and I'm not really sure why. Some of them are old so maybe the staff has changed a bit? We stayed in room 6 and room 2. Room 6 was cheaper and we preferred it. Room 2 had its own sauna in it but it's close to the restaurant and you hear...

I came to Las Cumbres out of desperation to get away from the busy city of Xela. I asked for a place in the mountains and ended up here. So happy I did. The staff was so welcoming to my Gringo-ness. I enjoyed a massage overlooking the mountain range with many fincas on it. There are hot saunas fed by...

I took a day trip here from Xela to use a sauna and have lunch. The sauna was definitely hot and I worked up a sweat in no time. It cost 30Q ($4) to use the sauna for an hour. Afterwards, I had lunch. It was OK. What appeared on my plate was not exactly what was described in the...
