I have been coming to San Marcos since 2009 and I always stay at Paco Real. (If I remember correctly the first time Icame I stayed several months!) It is a cozy, family style hotel. Situated in the middle of Barrios 3 it is a true oasis. I had trouble taking photos to show what it looks like because of...

Lucked out in finding this place as San Marcos was very busy during this period. Accomodation is very central, near everything. Yet it's quiet and has a nice garden setting. Have to commend the restaurant where I had a delicious chicken mole. Would have liked to stay here longer just to try some of the other food. Will be back.

We spent a very good time in this hotel. The room was large and clean, the atmosphere was relaxed and we had nice talks with the owner, a friendly swiss guy who lives there since many years and can tell you all about San Marcos. They also prepare a very good (and BIG) pizza!

Stayed for 3 days in private room w private bath. Very tastefully done place, both in the gardens that the rooms reside in, and inside the rooms, which are large and log cabin like. Got a very comfortable feel. Great location too, adjoining the alleyway that goes from the main street to the wharf (this is where the little action...

I have stayed in many hostels, hotels you name it but the welcome/reception/first impression that this left with me has brought me to rate it average. The two working at reception were quite young and didn't know the prices properly I asked for change for Q100 to pay two local kids who helped with my luggage. They didn't have any...

I am giving a 2 start rating because the experience was ruined for me after the two weeks into my stay. I was told I had to leave after two weeks when I was supposed to be there for one month. First, I was asked nicely and was given a week to move out, the next evening Magda came into...

Got a simple single room for one night with shared bathroom (in the yard). The little cottage was very cozy and homey. The owner Alain from Switzerland is very accomodating and easy going. Great to spend a couple of days. I heard that the restaurant there also serves nice food but didn't get a chance to try it myself.

Great jungly hotel in the village of San Marcos, 2mn from lake shore and majestic view. Alain the owner is devoted to make your stay the best it could be, and on top of that the food is as good as generous. A great deal and he kind of place you are always a little sad to leave.

Stayed here one night during my trip to Lago Atitlán - had a nice time here, the owner is very friendly and helpful and the little houses cute and cozy. Good internet access and the food offered in the restaurant seemed some kind of famous (especially the hand made pizza). The village people as a whole seemed a little bit...

Paid 70 quetzals for a private room (dorm was full), so cant complain! Nice service, excellent location and wifi also. The inner yard is so tranquilo and relaxing, but still in the middle,of the "action" of this tiny town. Very good value for the money. Recommended! Bring earplugs, if you are a light sleeper as the town dogs keeps barking...

“Our room had a sink and toilet. We shared the shower in the downstairs facility. An outdoor lamp shone in our room which might bother some people. Our room I think was #4. The downstairs rooms I think have full bathrooms in them. We were happy with our selection and most especially, the price.”
