These cosy red cabins are located just outside of the town of Kirkjubaejarklaustur. The cabins had a nice, warm feel to them. The place had a free wifi only in the main building, but from time to time it had coverage in our cabin as well. The place has its own restaurant, but we decided to eat out at the... More

Traveling as two couples, we found this hotel to be a perfect accommodation since we shared two bedrooms of one of Hunkubakkar's cabins. The cabin included two bedrooms which had their own washbasins and a european-sized bathroom. The beds were comfy and we really enjoyed the information provided by one of the members of the staff encouraging us to visit... More

We stayed three nights to make some day-trips. Nice spacy cottages, no TV and breakfast in the main building where there's also Wifi. Lovely sheeps as neighbours. Just a few miles to the beautiful Fjaðrárgljúfur!

My wife and I found this place and were very pleased. Nice cozy cabin, a bit rustic, but definitely enough amenities for us. We had the one nearest the creek and a view from the neat front porch of the creek and hills covered by sheep. Really a nice farm setting wish we had more than one day. The staff... More

Hunkubakkar consists of a collection of small but efficient stand-alone cottages in an idyllic setting. But real draw is the hostess who is warm and knowledgeable. She and her husband run the adjacent huge farm. We learned a lot about Iceland and its ways from her and were introduced to Einstock beer here, Iceland's most delicious brew.

It's a nice (but basic) accommodation in a beautiful setting (total greenery which sheeps around you). Rooms are in little huts/lodges. I think they come in different sizes either en-suite or shared bathroom. While it's a nice place to stay for a night, it is a bit overpriced (ISK 17,100). Rooms were clean but basic (no fridge, no TV, no... More

We went with Another Iceland tours and this was on our stops with 3-4 stars requested accommodations. This rated about a 2 with twin beds when we asked for a double. No wifi in the cabins. Food was ok, we had the seafood stew, which was mashed potatoes with fish mixed in, iceberg lettuce for salad. Bread was delicious as... More

We stayed here as part of a self drive Iceland package organised by Bentours. The Guesthouse that we stayed in was individual timber huts. We were first given a twin room when it clearly stated on our package double room. This was fixed promptly. While it has this old feel it was a bed for the night. It had heating... More

This was easy to find. No flag but 1K off Rt 1 and just under 6K west of Kirkjubaejarklauster. Very picturesque area of hills, green grass and sheep. Sheep sorting pen nearby. Fjadrarlijufur Canyon 2K past the guesthouse which is very worth seeing. You can also look for the sign for the canyon to find this guesthouse. We ate dinner... More
