A lovely, warm, spacious cabin with comfy beds. Lovely dinner at the restaurant which was very reasonably priced. Good variety for the continental breakfast. The 2 gentlemen who were running reception and the bar were friendly and helpful.

The room was spacious but saggy smell in the bathroom. Pillows where incredibly poor, 1 small pillow for each and absolutely no filling in them. We came in late and left early, before breakfast. We just needed to rest. Unfortunately not a comfy night.

Facilities were not up to the mark. There was no shower gel, coffee cups were not clean. In one of the other rooms our friends booked , there were glass pieces on floor which got in our friend’s foot, the washroom’s drainage got clogged while taking shower. The manager was arrogant, irresponsible and had no accountability. To top it all, he said deal with it, it’s not the end of the world.

Sad and terrible experience because of the owner. The shower drain was completely clogged and it overflowed the bathroom and bit of the room. I stepped on glass in the bathroom and needed bandage for the blood. When stated the above to the owner, we got into a discussion which got us nowhere. "Why didn't you notify us immediately" - because it was 12 at night, no one was at reception, and there was nothing you could have done at that time that you couldn't have done in the morning. "Getting glass in your foot can happen anywhere" "You cannot complain about everything" "This room is not expensive, this is Iceland" "It's not the end of the world" Last but not least; "You're indian. I have been many times to India. You can get glass in your foot in india as well". He was clearly very upset that we didn't notify him at 12 in the night. Next time I will. We got a meaningless apology at the end. Moreover but "less" important; The dinner was a small portion and not warm. Ordered the same and got 2 different dishes. There was only 1 overworked chef for the whole hotel, had to wait 50 minutes for only mains. We were still hungry but staff said we couldn't order another dish. The breakfast was minimal.

We checked in late evening and only went to the rooms after 11pm. Once in Many found several problems with the hotel: 1. Drain clogged in one shower 2. Shower gel not available 3. Piece of glass in a shower on which one of our friends hurt her foot. Owners reaction? You got unlucky with 2 and 3. And we should have called him up at midnight about the drain because we endangered the room. He actually got angry at us about his hotels defects. We didn't call at midnight because we had to walk to a different building for the reception desk which we knew was empty to find a number to call. Owner even insinuated that since we were brown, we shouldn't complain about missing facilities. Hotel is also very understaffed with one guy covering reception who had only been there for a week while juggling other responsibilities. Same situation with the restaurant only having one chef and long wait times for the food.

Not a good experience and the manager was of no help and very aggressive from the beginning and making comments that we are from India and if something is wrong just deal with it. Things that were wrong: : drainage not working : glass pieces on the floor, gf being hurt by that : no shower gel Worst experience in 20 days trip of iceland.

Beautiful cosy lobby big basic rooms with great heating but service and breakfast needs improvement! Not enough people during breakfast to clean the tables and serve. Also, the place needs more light! Not very comfortable going up with suitcases to the second floor in the dark.

In August we stayed 5 nights in the Borealis Hotel and we had a nice time. Quiet during the nights and guests in the rooms at the front side, can enjoy a great view. Hotel is clean, the rooms are small, basic but okay, bathroom is good. Breakfast was fresh with good coffee.Staff is very friendly. We had a good time and we will be back... for sure.

This hotel is convenient to the Golden Circle route. We stayed 3 nights when we first arrived in Iceland. Hotel looks dated with older signage when you pull in, but the room was clean and was decorated nicely in the lobby area. The breakfast was plenty with some meats, eggs, cheese, cereal (unfortunately no plant based milk, only diary milk was offered), juice, coffee, tea, toasts and a bit of sweet bread/cookies. Room was small, no television, you are allotted two towels and they do not refresh. Room is not cleaned each day, but that was fine with us. A couple additional pillows would have been nice addition. Shower was okay, but it leaked onto the bathroom floor, so we held the nozzle to avoid too much water leakage. Bed was comfortable. We would stay again. There is a couple restaurants down the street, one more expensive $$$ and the other $$. A store is also in the $$ restaurant. Beautiful views as its out in the country, not in the city. Walls a bit thin, I wore earplugs for a better nights rest. Also, could use a few more power outlets as we kept unplugging to charge our different items; just add a power strip for a quick fix.
