We visited Carrickmacross in July and we had no accomodation pre booked . Someone had advised us to try the Shirley Arms at the beginning of town. To be honest i thought i was looking for a pub that may have had a room to let. So i was very pleasantly surprised to see a beautiful stone structure decorated with...

It sounds like a wee dodgie pub with rooms but that's far from the truth! Well designed, lovely decore, bar open til 4am, food was amazing, rooms are stunning, super clean, very friendly and helpful staff even under a hen weekend of 30 turned up, very secure, within minutes walking distance from the town, taxis on tap, lifts for all...

My friends and I dined here for Sunday Lunch and I was pleasantly surprised by the experience. The staff were very attentive and the food was very good. Unfortunately I didn't stay over night but if I'm in the area any time soon, I would definitely choose this place!

We had B & B here and had a spacious room on the first floor with an extra bed for our son. Nice toiletries and tea and coffee provided The bed was comfy with extra pillows. I dropped an earring and had to look under the bed - wow that needs a clean it was a bit dusty and scruffy...

This is a special hotel for sure. The stone exterior is impressive along with the central town location. The staff is friendly and helpful except late at night. What happened could have been a disaster if it had been an emergency call made to the front desk. Luckily, it wasn't that. On Sunday night, July 12th a birthday party was...

My and I stayed here for two nights as a last minute booking as the hotel we were due to stay in elsewhere was uninhabitable in our view. However the two nights in The Shirley Arms more than compensated for our earlier disappointment. Firstly the staff from the reception desk booking in through to the dining room staff were all...

Very nice modern hotel in town centre. Big rooms. Lovely bathroom with plenty of towels, shampoo, etc. Spotlessly clean. Good bar with great bar food. Would recommend this hotel. We attended a birthday party in one of the function rooms - a great room for a party.

The Shirley Arms is a great hotel. I always use TripAdvisor before I book a hotel so apart from once they have all been very good but the Shirley Arms was better than most The hotel is very old but the bedrooms which are huge were built in 2008 as part of an extension to the back. There is plenty...

this hotel is absolutely fabulous along with all the staff. We stayed for 4 nights for a wedding, we arrived with a hungry 2 year old relatively late on a very busy Saturday night, the receptionist went above and beyond to get us a table and succeeded. Once we went up to the room, which was a fantastic size for...
