#4 of 6 hotels in Halden
For centuries Halden has been the gateway to Norway. The Grand Hotel has a long tradition as Halden’s central hotel, and we wish all guests welcome to enjoy our excellent service and homey atmosphere. Grand Hotel is situated in downtown Halden, less than two minutes from the railway station, bus depot, the town market square and guest harbour. Within easy walking distance you will also find the cultural centre and a number of shops and restaurants. The Grand, with 33 rooms, all with shower, bathroom, cable TV, telephone and wireless internet, has undergone a complete renovation in 2010. With its ideal location, the Grand Hotel is the perfect place for meetings and conferences for small or large groups. We have excellent rooms for all types of private parties and have some quite unique rooms to offer. What about an evening in the old gunpowder storeroom from 1720? You should also try our cosy Grand Bar that has a comfortable pub style.

Only open during July and August but that doesn’t mean standards should fall short of the expected . We had a room on the 2 Nd floor . Lamps in the hallway were broken , 2 light bulbs in our room were broken , the edging to the bathroom was broken , there was no television, the hot water ran out after my wife and me had showered . Breakfast was ok and very good staff serving . This hotel is old but needs some “ uplift” to bring its standards back . The best part of this hotel is the bar which I believe is operated as a separate entity . However the service and atmosphere in the bar is 100%.

Great location, clean, and good atmosphere. We had the pleasure of staying at this hotel last summer, and we were positively suprised by the high standard, given the price level. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Near bus station and train. Connections to Oslo and Göteborg. Lovely park and strolling street nearby, small town aura. Charming. Friendly people, No language problems for Scandinavians. Fortress on hill.

It is a very old hotel with some great paintings hung about the place (I loved the attic fighting soldiers in the restaurant). The beds are the usual Scandinavian thin mattress style, the room itself is big enough and the shower was great. You do get some noise from the nearby train station but it never bothered me, so I didn't use the ear plugs on the side table. (Nice touch though).

If you like historic buildings, then you will like this place. The hotel is placed in a old building. I personally don't like squeaky wooden floors with less wall-outlets to charge my pc and phone. The hotel is situated bang opposite the station. This means it is very accessible. However, this also means that you get to hear trains passing-by. The hotel staff was so considerate to place ear-plugs in the room without even asking. The hotel staff also runs the bar where you can have a nice drink. The staff was very friendly.
