We had a lovely stay here one night while walking the C2C trail. Barbara and Ken were just great. The B&B is located in Melbecks, just steps away from central Kirkby Stephen. Walk to restaurants, pubs, banks, outdoor gear shops, etc. Barbara recommended the Indian restaurant, Mango Tree, for dinner. We had one of the best meals here our entire...

Stayed here midway through our Coast to Coast walk. Barbara and Ken set a standard that has not been met anywhere else. Extremely clean and well appointed accommodation, fantastic shower (looked as though it had just been installed and never used before). The extra attention to detail was a real bonus, tea and teacakes offered on arrival, complimentary sherry whenever you...

Switched to the White House for our 2nd night in Mellbecks. Interesting couple, Barbara and Ken run a very clean and tidy house. Lovely, lovely couple, very friendly, very welcoming. Tea & coffee making facility in room with fresh milk available in a mini fridge on the landing. Lots of goodies, biscuits, chocolates and sherry which we enjoyed in the...

The 3rd time that we have stayed at White Gill House and as always nothing can be faulted. The house is immaculate and our twin bedded room and en-suite bathroom as welcoming as ever - just like coming home. Excellent w-fi in bedroom and good tv. Ever little thing you need is catered for. Barbara and Ken, the hosts, are...

My brother and I stayed with Barbara and Ken the night before we started our C2C walk and again the night we finished. We were able to do this thanks to Coast 2 Coast Packhorse ferrying us to St Bees to start and back from Robin Hood's Bay at the end. Barbara and Ken made us feel so welcome on...

Whilst I did my C2C last August, I promised faithfully to do a Tripadvisor review for Barbie and Ken. As it was quite simply the nicest place i stayed at for my C3C walk, they deserved me honouring my promise - even if it is a little late. Having walked past some fairly unassuming places to get to Kirkby Stephen...

Ideally placed for some great walking. An extremely comfortable and central place to stay and Ken and Barbara cannot do enough to make your visit enjoyable. A very high standard of cleanliness and the breakfasts are marvellous. Excellent value and would highly recommend

Lovely personalised welcome from Ken & Barbie, two experienced walkers who know exactly what a walker needs in a stopover. From the tea and cakes on our arrival through to the very extensive breakfast table everything was perfect. Our room was beautifully decorated, as immaculate as the rest of the house and yet our hosts made us feel welcome and...

Excellent. We were welcomed with a personalised message on a piece of slate, also an ice cold coke and a couple of crumpets... fantastic after a days walking. The house was lovely and i would not hesitate in returning. Barbara and Ken were perfect hosts. Breakfast was the best ever.... 15 out of 10

Best stay on our 12 night Coast to Coast journey! Warm welcome with drink and crumpets and the rest of the stay was also outstanding - Barbara couldn't do enough for you! Loads of fruit at breakfast plus generous portions. Ken was also obliging and threw in a bit of comedy!
