We booked a family room which was very clean with a good size bathroom. I won’t mention the price but I will say considering I didn’t get quite the sea view I was expecting I thought all in all it was very expensive. We booked dinner at the hotel, and there were very limited options and our vegetarian cauliflower steak was not a dish I’d have again and the portions were small and I thought expensive.I think the menu could be looked at as the side dishes were top dollar and very small portions. The breakfast was ok and all the staff were very friendly. We managed to park ok. Plenty of good beers at the bar.
Sunday lunch. Such a fantastic experience. Food incredibly tasty and lovely menu with superb veggie options. My tomato salad starter was stunning. Roasted cod out of this world. Great value. Service excellent. Beautiful location. Smashing old atmospheric inn. & dog friendly. Highly recommended.
Had dinner at the restaurant. Staff provided an excellent service, considering we didn't book. Food was very nice but no veg. Dessert was very nice but expensive. Bill was extortionate for the quality of the food.
Probably took 90 mins between starter & main course. By the time the latter came, we’d almost lost interest. We were offered complimentary desserts - but were told there’d be a 40 minute wait for them!! The waitress (who was very nice) said it would be better next time - but there’s no way we’ll put ourselves through that again! Very disappointed
Didn’t seem like a 5 star property. Toilet wouldn’t flush and when I let them know when we left they were not surprised. No ventilation in the room, had to prop the window open. No toast offered with breakfast. Food in the restaurant was a 5 star price but over salted and only ok. Parking was too far to wheel suitcases.
This is a beautiful historic building with absolutely amazing views and the staff and food and service were superb. Would 100% recommend. The owners should be proud of what they have achieved Can't wait to return
I’ve stayed at this hotel many times over 40 years. Always had great food and service in the past. Not any more. Overpriced, mediocre service and a bizarre menu. The buffet showcasing local produce at breakfast never arrived due to ‘delivery problems’. Clearly beyond the kitchen to knock up a fresh fruit salad the night before. The main problem is this hotel claims to be five star but doesn’t have five star food, although it does have five star prices. My wife had the cod one night which turned out to have been curried with very spicy Bombay potatoes. How to murder a piece of Cornish cod in one easy lesson. We stayed three nights. First two nights the restaurant service was appallingly slow….waited 90 mins to get two courses. Went to pay the bill when we left, at 9am as per the instructions, to find no one in reception. When someone did arrive I took opportunity to ask why you couldn’t get a cappuccino or Americano coffee with breakfast. Oh, that’s because the coffee machine is in the bar and is t switched on until 11. Really? Five star? Really? Shan’t return under current management.…
Beautiful location, staff absolutely lovely, gorgeous food. Super clean room with everything one needs. We had complimentary biscuits, tea with teapot coffee pod machine, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and soap. Lovely jar of sweets, hairdryer, super towels. The decor throughout is lovely The other stuff, a tad expensive for food and drinks, a sandwich albeit a very nice one £18.00, a bottle of wine, £27.00. However, it was on a par with the surrounding area so be prepared. Big hill to walk up to get into Port Isaac but a nice walk. The sea was super clean and safe. Dog friendly place to stay and dogs are allowed on the beach as long as any mess is picked up. Very nice experience all round, Breakfast was included and was outstanding.
Lovely comfortable room, with all facilities and extras as expected for the price, pleased to have reserved parking for the hotel guests, but be aware still 100 yard walk so make sure your bags are on wheels or drop off before parking! The food both evening meal and breakfast was tasty, freshly cooked and served by pleasant, helpful staff. The food and drink were a bit over priced, the stairs to rooms steep but nice private outside sitting areas, although ours lacking views.
Visited many times before this place has really gone down hill poor menu food overpriced and pretty awful if i owned this place i would be embarrassed nobody seems to care i also noticed that nobody seems to respond to these awful reviews which seems pretty poor unless something drastic happens this place will close down which would be a shame as it is in a great location
