We went for the 2 courses for £20 special offer and were very pleasantly surprised that this allowed us to choose from the regular menu. We splurged on spicy bloody mary's to start, with a side of crackling (amazing, both). Both starters and mains were delicious, and the wine choice was extensive. The ambience is lovely (not super cool, there...

We spent three nights at The Pig, arriving on Christmas Eve. The hotel is in a stunning, peaceful location, with wonderful views. We had a "comfy" room in the Stable Yard, and it certainly was. The staff were friendly, attentive and professional and the food excellent, with added treats as, I imagine, it was over the Christmas period. We came...

Our daughter discovered this place after realising that our favourite restaurant was closed over New Year. She persuaded us to visit for a drink on our way home from Sidmouth, It was worth the drive through the foggy woodlands. As night fell it was an amazing site on arrival, although the car park is difficult to navigate in the darkness....

Went here with the in laws for lunch. The dining room is v pretty and buzzy but not noisy. Loved that all the food was local and all was well cooked. Service was friendly and welcoming, plus it was Good for veggies too

What a shame the new corporate owners feel they need to slag off a previously wonderfully atmospheric truly historic hotel in their signature 'shabby chic ' marketing. Despite the new description, the former version of this hotel was not formal in the slightest, but incredibly relaxing, peaceful and uncrowded. I feel sorry that new visitors can no longer experience its...

Great service and contemporary rustic decor was the perfect back drop to an imaginative menu. My own gripe would be the acoustics in the main dining room would be tricky for someone with a hearing aid or sensitive to the buzz of a busy room. Otherwise I would have no hesitation to recommend The Pig. Planning a return in the...

The whole place was elegantly decorated with Christmas trees in various areas . We had a room to urselves , the 12 of us felt at home , totally relaxed . A champagne reception was followed by amazing food . The slightest complaint would be that the smoked salmon was a little oily , but then I am spoilt by...

We were familiar with the property when under previous management, so were keen to see the changes and new style. We like the new decor though I can imagine the shabby chic look is not for everyone. The service is just excellent with energetic and helpful staff everywhere. Food is also very good and creative We will definitely return

The Pig sets the standard for country living in terms of dining, accommodation, service and surroundings. Another perfect property that lends itself to relaxed visits. Whether visiting for dinner or a longer stay this is a fabulous place to spend time. And while it is not cheap, nor is it unaffordably expensive. This is more than a world class hotel,...

We stayed one night at this marvellous new addition to the 'The Pig' portfolio. Surroundings, comfort, food and service all excellent. We felt totally looked after. This Pig has much more of a family feel than the others we have visited and lots of families were present at both dinner and breakfast - mind you, it was half term so...
