Called in here after visiting the forbidden corner! We could not dine there and decided to pull over and see if the black swan could seat our family of 11! They were fantastic for a Sunday lunch time with no notice, they pulled some tables together, decorated the dining room with banners (mother in laws 60th) and really went all...

We visited the Black Swan a couple of times during our week-long stay in Middleham. On both occasions we received a warm welcome and the atmosphere felt very inviting. The food came promptly and was well-cooked and the chips in particular were the best we had tasted in a while. Would definitely recommend.

Visit to the area for a relation's naming day. Long journey necessitated an overnight stay. All accommodation in the area seemed quite expensive, especially as it was pubs with a few rooms rather than hotels. Room was just adequate for one night, however it had a somewhat uncomfortable bed, no hair dryer, no toilet roll holder, no bathroom shelf, no...

Of the four pubs in Middleham, this was our favourite. The staff were very friendly. The wee pub is inviting and offers extras like crisps and nibbles with your drinks. Lovely window candles lit early doors and a roaring, welcoming open fire at all times.

Called in for a meal but soon left. The manager was rude to customers, there was a notice on the toilet door which read out of order blocked by nappies. The place just looked dirty, I was very disappointed as it looked so nice from outside.

Stopped in for a meal during the week. The food was certainly nowhere close to its description; uncooked peas, reheated dry lasagne and a seafood platter which must have been frozen fish bites from a supermarket. I would not recommend going here for any food. On a plus point the selection of ales makes stopping for a quick drink worthwhile...

On arrival we had to get to our room via a tiny and mucky kitchen. Carry luggage through this and upstairs. Many sorts of cleaning materials were left around and not used frequently. At breakfast-time we could help ourselves to cereals, as long as you did not expect to eat them from a bowl and if you hunted in the...

Had a lovely meal here (lasagne) and they catered for my young daughter perfectly, you just have to ask and the lady made her a meal she would eat. Friendly service and lovely location can't wait to visit again next year for the Richard III festival x

First of all......this is a review for the Black Swan in Middleham - not the one in Leyburn. Stayed here for two nights for a friends wedding. Now, my companion and I are not fussy people, we stay in all kinds of accommodation (hostels, hotels, bnb's etc) but this was so bad I have had to write a review. To...
