Stayed here with my brother on a recent blast around the fabulous NC500 on our motorcycles. We stayed in Ullapool after our first days ride (330 miles) and would have been content with just about anything - so long as it was clean and comfortable. It turns out the Caledonian is both of these - ok it's run down and...

We stayed for 1 night on our way to and from the Isle of lewis. I had read previous reviews and was worried about making the wrong decision, we go away with our dog almost every weekend and are used to dog friendly and not so friendly hotels. This hotel is totally dog friendly. Some people want to take advantage...

I genuinely don't understand what people expect when they rate hotels like this as 'terrible'. The hotel is absolutely fine for the price paid. Granted the place is not the ritz, but the staff are friendly, the hotel is clean and frankly I don't know what more you are expecting from a two star hotel at these rates! My wife...

If you are looking for somewhere that's very nice I would keep looking. The hotel staff are lovely, and its good value for money if you paid what I did (£205 for DB&B 3 nights) but I probably wouldn't stay again. The place is in dire need to a refurb. A lick of paint, some new carpets/doors and a soft...

Possibly the worst no actually the worst hotel I have ever stayed in! Needing a lick of paint with a GIANTS Tongue, I don't think there's a straight edge in our room. The bed springs are shot and the blood runs to your head. The single glazing leaves the room freezing and the bathroom is just odd. We booked the...

Stayed here last summer and got a room with a lovely view of the harbour. The room itself was a bit dated and could do with a lick of paint. However the hotel is in a good location. We went for the dinner option which we booked for 7pm but by that time there was not much left to choose...

Stayed here one night before taking the ferry to Stornaway. Check in was easy and the person was pleasant. Room was a good size although very basic. Bed was too soft. The room seemed clean. The worst part of the one night stay was the shower. There was plentiful cold water but just a trickle of hot water. I ended...

Ullapool is a terminal for the ferries going to the islands, and our impression of the town was that it was on "hard times" We arrived at the hotel around 4:30, and wanted to have a look at the shops, but found that the vast majority of them had closed at 4:30. It seems that the Caledonian Hotel is suffering...
