Visited Wales for the weekend for my husband to take part in a 30k race. We found The Cedars and booked it based on the most recent reviews.
We received a very warm welcome by Lydia when we arrived on a late cold Friday night at the Cedars.
Our room was cosy with lovely views over the fields. A lovely treat was left for us, home baked cookies, this is when we realised we are going to be eating very well with a top chef running this quaint guest house.
We had breakfast each morning. Chef Nick Brodie greeted us with an amazing breakfast selection. All produce is local and cooked on the spot, catering for allergies and intolerances. I would say it was one of the best breakfasts we have had and it really sets you up for the day.
Nicks love of food, experience and passion for good products shines through. Lydia and Nick are two of the bests hosts you will find, dedicated, hard working and with attention to detail made our stay a very relaxing one.
The guest house is spotless, as a germaphobe I really felt comfortable not having to worry meaning I even slept better as a result.
The hosts explained to us that in the warmer months they will open a bar and dining room which we are looking forward to visit to enjoy!
Location is great, walking distance to the closest village with a great selection of pubs and tea rooms, great walking spots and an easy drive to amazing waterfalls as well as the Brecon Beacons not too far. There are also caves and zip line for kids!
We will definitely stay at the Cedars when we visit this part of wales.

The Cedars is under new management and both Nick & Lydia were so welcoming and couldn’t help enough. As a lone traveller it really felt like home from home. The bedroom was really comfortable, beautiful soft bedding and quirky decor throughout and considering my room faced the road it was incredibly quiet. I had a “full welsh breakfast” which was so tasty and they gave me advice on local places to visit and gave me some homemade flapjacks to keep me going whilst I was out. There was a lot of choice of breakfasts from cooked, cereals to homemade welsh cakes, banana bread and the most delicious cinnamon buns. There are books around the guest house and in the bedroom too which was a lovely touch. I will definitely stay again and can’t recommend The Cedars enough, you won’t regret staying here.

Since the last reviews the hotel is clearly under new management and has been tastefully updated with added lovely little quirks- nothing like the pictures on here so a shame I didn't take any whilst I was there! On our first night we were checked in with homemade welsh cakes and given fresh milk each evening to have tea and coffee in our room. Lydia and Nick are friendly and will go out their way to accommodate, and the breakfast is SO good. It's difficult to choose between continental options like home-baked muffins, banana bread and all the cooked options...and with a 'special' option each day! Overall, a wonderful place to stay when we went up to visit family and we'll be back before the end of the year.

When we arrived, Nick was very friendly and welcoming , showed us to our room and came back and spent a long time trying to get our TV to work. We slept well and quite enjoyed the breakfast, although the only fruit on offer was a bowl of very small apples and there were no yoghurts - just cereals and cooked breakfast.
Maybe because we were only staying for one night and were the only guests that night, we will have to come back another time to experience the lovely homemade flapjacks, cinnamon buns, banana bread, etc. everyone else is raving about on here! We were given two Welsh cakes, which tasted like shop bought. The twin room we were in was very tiny and cramped, the tea tray was on the window sill as there was no table or desk, and there were no bedside lights, just a ceiling light not bright enough to read by. The place was very quiet.
We would certainly recommend that you don't bring much luggage in here.
A suggestion would be to fix some sort of shelf or table between the beds for a cuppa or clock/phone as these had to be put on the floor.
Maybe the other bedrooms might be a little more spacious so you are not bumping into each other as you pass, as our room was more suitable for a single. Sorry, Nick, but this is an honest review.

Had a great stay here. Nick & Lydia are brilliant hosts. The homemade welshcakes provided on returning to the room in the afternoon were divine.
The breakfasts were delicious and it was especially nice to have such a variety of cooked options, so one could try different things; my first time trying Welsh Rarebit did not disappoint!
Will definitely be returning to stay here in the future. Thanks guys!

We recently stayed at The Cedars for six nights. Nick and Lydia are lovely warm people and this had a big impact on us. Our rooms were well equipped and very comfortable and we had great views over the countryside. Plenty of parking to the front of the property. Thoughtful additional touches included complimentary home made cookies and sweets in the room. The star of the show was breakfast - amazing locally sourced bacon and sausages as well as a number of other choices including french toast and porridge like you’ve never tasted before. There is nothing negative to say about the Cedars and I would highly recommend it. Thank you again Nick and Lydia and good luck to you both in the future. Michele & Jerry Wood

When we arrived we had such a warm welcome from Nick & Lydia, they were lovely! We had booked three rooms in total. Our rooms were spotlessly clean and the room had everything that you could want. It was a nice touch having homemade cookies in the room and being able to go down to the fridge to collect fresh milk for our tea and coffee.
Breakfast this morning was amazing ! It’s no wonder that Nick was in the great British Menu as his food speaks for itself, it was fabulous ! We would not hesitate to stay at cedars again in the future, plenty of parking, the most genuinely lovely owners and great rooms! We will be back! Thank you Caroline

We were very happy with our stay at The Cedars, and will not hesitate to recommend it to other travellers. Nick and Lydia made us feel extremely welcome, and were always ready for a chat, and to give helpful advice. As stated in earlier reviews, the rooms are a bit on the small side, but clean and comfortable. We could fetch bottled water and milk from the guest fridge downstairs, so we didn’t miss a fridge in the room. The shower had good water pressure, and we had plenty of towels. A couple of extra coat/towel hooks in the room would have been appreciated, but that’s a minor niggle.
The whole house has been tastefully decorated, and seemed fresh and airy.
And then there’s breakfast… Nick’s Avocado toast is to die for, I had it three times in six days😋. All other breakfast dishes were good, and plenty to start a day.
If we’re ever in the area again, we’ll definitely be staying at The Cedars.

This B&B really felt as if you were staying with relatives, from the friendly welcome and informative chats with hosts and other guests. Our room was compact but had everything you’d want, and the choice of breakfast included a few choices of hot dish all well prepared. Ample car parking within the front garden area

The host was wonderful. Really friendly. Former chef and can cook meals for guests on request, I would defiantly take him up on this offer in future as the breakfast and homemade cakes were fantastic.
There is a nice reading room/dining room to relax which was good for us as we had our 1 year old asleep in our room upstairs.
