Wonderful couple of days stay. Everybody very friendly and welcoming. Extremely dog friendly, we requested a ground floor room with walk in shower and that’s exactly what we received. It had been recently renovated to a very high standard. Breakfast was freshly cooked to order, they even allowed our dog to eat in the conservatory with us rather than leave him in the room. Set in the most beautiful grounds with lots of walks for humans and dogs. Highly recommended.

My wife and I have visited the Cae Beris Hotel on several occasions recently for afternoon cocktails and Sunday lunches so we were already aware of the beautiful setting and luxurious decor. The staff and management have always made us feel welcome and the food and service has been exemplary, so we were looking forward to trying their new 14 course menu. We were not disappointed! We could watch in anticipation as each course was prepared in the kitchen, on the screens in the elegant dining room. Jamie, the Chef, [a Builth boy] came out and explained each meal in detail. The dishes were served in good time to all by the friendly and efficient staff. The meals were very varied, interesting tasty and well presented and locally sourced and even the menu was edible! The food was accompanied by a selection of advised local Welsh wines, [at an extra cost], which went well with each course. At the end of the evening we were well fed but not stuffed. Jamie and Omar, the manager, came out and were spontaneously applauded by all the diners. They stayed to meet and discuss the food and service with everybody. All in all, an enjoyable, very pleasant 'foodie' evening.

Our family of 30 recently stayed at Caer Beris Manor in Wales for a 4-night reunion, and we had an amazing time. The manor is absolutely stunning, with its vintage charm and spacious rooms, each with a comfortable en-suite. The grounds are expansive, with breathtaking views and a beautiful river right beside the property, offering plenty of activities for everyone. Andy, the caretaker, was incredibly helpful and always on hand whenever we needed anything.
There were a few minor drawbacks, though. Some of the mattresses were a bit too springy for our liking, and we noticed there weren’t enough cleaning products provided. Additionally, the dining room could use a bit more lighting as it felt a little too dark at times. However, these were not dealbreakers by any means.
Overall, I highly recommend Caer Beris Manor for large groups—it’s the perfect getaway, and we can’t wait to return!

For our significant wedding anniversary we were searching for a secluded and fairly small hotel where we felt we would be looked after in a safe (Covid) and appropriate manner. Our choice turned out to be excellent, and we were looked after very well indeed, with a few Anniversary surprises thrown in!.
This is s truly family run hotel set in a beamed Manor House dating from late 1800's, and guests satisfaction and well-being was evidently their first concern The setting is stunning, and we recommend a stroll by the river in the extensive grounds, and also that you try the "wobbly bridge", but only two at a time, and definitely when sober!
The casual and formal dining arrangements are good, with views from the Conservatory beautiful. The formal dining room in this lovely Manor House is in what was obviously the main lounge and reception room; the tables are large and well spaced. The food in both dining areas was excellent, freshly prepared, although at this time the menu choices a little limited for obvious reasons.
Our room was simply furnished - all unnecessary furnishings removed, and all controllers, toiletries etc sealed in their own sterilised bags. The bed was large and comfortable, clothes storage plentiful, and the shower unit powerful and of good size.
The guest lounge areas are large and furnished in appropriate manner, and the separate bar area well stocked.
All staff were friendly and helpful
A delightful stay and recommended.

Response from Caer Beris, General Manager at Caer Beris Manor

Hi Gwen, Thank you for a fantastic review which we think reflects the Manor well. Well done for braving the bridge - many have failed! The Restaurant 1896 used to the be Swansea family's formal dining room (we learned this recently from their Nanny!) and consisted of a long oak table and his hunting trophy's. We hope you had a wonderful anniversary with us, and come back to celebrate with us another time. Kind regards, Kimberley

We booked this one night stay as a last minute birthday treat not knowing what to expect so close to the relaxing of lockdown. I’m so glad we chose to stay here. It’s the first place I’ve stayed where the pictures on the website aren’t as good as the place is in reality. The Manor House is positioned on the road out of Builth Wells and our satnav directed us to a holiday park which was on the other side of the river but shared the same postcode. A quick phone call to the manor and we were directed to our destination where we were made to feel very safe and welcome. The manor has a grand and sweeping driveway with parking directly outside the front door. The reception area is beautifully decorated, as was all of the interior of the property. Unfortunately, due to the Welsh COVID regulation, we were unable to sit in the public dining/drinking areas indoors but as the weather was so good, we were able to enjoy the gorgeous terrace overlooking the gardens and river. Our room was superb, a grand four poster, tasteful decor, good sized bathroom, everything was spotlessly clean. All rooms are meticulously cleaned and toiletries and remote control for tv in sealed plastic bags. We had a choice of taking our meals in our room or outside on the terrace - we chose the terrace overlooking the huge gardens which are well worth exploring. The food was delicious, we ate our evening meal here and enjoyed a full welsh breakfast, the chef is fabulous as are the young ladies who worked hard bringing all our food and drinks out to us. This hotel is the best one I’ve stayed in and so I felt I had to write this review. Obviously, it’s the first we’ve stayed in since Covid and we were a little dubious about having a night away, but our stay here left us feeling safe and well looked after. The staff/owners go above and beyond looking after their guests, they really are the friendliest, most helpful I’ve ever come across. Worthy of five stars.

Just returned from a weekend at the beautiful Caer-Beris hotel for a friend’s wedding. This hotel has stunning surroundings with landscaped gardens by a gorgeous clean and clear river, a natural wildlife haven. We even saw a kingfisher! The garden has hidden surprises round every corner including a swing bridge crossing the river. The hotel itself, although a historical building with all the problems that can bring, is very well maintained and in good order. You can tell that these relatively new owners are ploughing everything they can back into the business to keep the hotel up to a high standard. We were in a four poster room which was extremely clean, spacious and comfortable with all the expected amenities including iron and ironing board. All clean and wrapped so no worries about COVID-19! Good strong WiFi! The decor throughout the hotel was tasteful and quirky and to a high standard. The lounge areas very comfortable and the conservatory overlooking the river offered stunning views. We couldn’t fault the food in any way, good quality sensible portions and well cooked and presented. All of the above made for a very pleasant stay but the outstanding feature of this hotel are the people. The family owners and the staff worked from dawn til very nearly the next dawn to ensure that everyone was happy and well catered for. No request was a problem and they always had a smile. You can tell they are totally invested in providing the best experience possible for their guests. We will definitely return. 10 out of 10 !

My husband and myself stayed at the hotel last weekend for might. The hotel is set in beautiful surroundings and our room was lovely, with a comfy bed, nice bedding, large tv and classy bathroom. The breakfast was really exceptional with plenty of choice and the hot portion of breakfast was cooked separately as it was ordered, all food was of excellent quality. However, the room we were in, which was on the front of the hotel, needs black out curtains as the light from outside shone straight through the existing curtains. Also, it would be a good idea if the evening meal could include something a.little less expensive than ÂŁ39, perhaps a bar meal as not everyone who visits needs a 2 or 3 course meal.

Myself and my husband stayed at Caer Beris for a couple of nights this month and what a treat we had. The welcome we had at the front desk was warm and welcoming and this included our Labrador aswell. Obviously there were procedures in place that we all had to be aware of due to Covid but despite this our stay was amazing. We stayed in a four poster bedroom with huge windows through which you could see the river running through the grounds and everything was spotless. Due to Covid no one else entered our room during our stay but all the extra facilities were available, tea and coffee making facilities, biscuits, fresh towels. On our first night we ate our evening meal in the conservatory overlooking the magnificent gardens and the meal and service was first class. The second night we ate in the more formal dining room which was lovely for a special occasion. The breakfast choices were excellent and I had a small cooked breakfast with tea and toast that went down a treat. We spent quite some time walking in the gardens and bravely crossed the swing bridge over the river to see the holiday lets on the other side. I feel that in the hotel we have discovered a precious jewel and can’t wait to visit again. Well priced accommodation and very reasonably priced menus. Thank you so much for such an enjoyable stay.

Had wanted to stay after a friend and her husband had stayed a couple of years ago. A lovely long drive up to the hotel which has a very attractive exterior. Small reception desk, then up to the rooms. Ours was No. 17, The Gardener's. Nicely proportioned and decorated with a big en suite with walk in shower. However, the cheap blind over the window was unnecessary and the windowsill needed attention. Also, no Wifi to this part of the building....I had booked for dinner which we had in the very impressive restaurant of oak panels and ornate plaster ceiling. We both had Pork Belly, a dish which would have been delicious had the pork been tender which it wasn't. Coffee was taken in the lounge afterwards, a lovely room with the William Morris style wallpaper which appears around the hotel, along with comfy leather sofas, a very pleasant area to spend time. We slept well in our room, it was very quiet. Breakfast in the morning was super; the full Welsh nicely proportioned and of good quality ingredients. The grounds are a pleasant place to explore as the river runs through. There is a swing bridge for the adventurous! The staff were helpful and pleasant. Just a little attention to detail would make all the difference to this hotel and to our stay. I was travelling with my elderly mother; the chap who checked us in didn't offer to help us upstairs with our luggage. Wifi needs to be available in ALL rooms: not an issue for us but it would be for others. The Wifi extender I saw looked ancient! Food coming out of the restaurant needs to be a shade better. We will certainly return on another occasion.

Hi thehippohaslanded, Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a detailed review of the Manor. We're so pleased you enjoyed your stay with us. I did want to mention that due to the covid restrictions, we cannot offer to help with bags or enter bedrooms such as we always would in usual circumstances - I do apologise for this, we do have to put safety of our staff and guests first. Thank you for noting the blind in the bathroom, I'll see to that straight away. We're so pleased you had a wonderful night sleep and enjoyed your breakfast - everything is as local as it gets which we feel enhances the quality. I'll look into your pork dish, I'm so sorry that it was not tender as it of course should be and usually is. WiFi is hit and miss in this part of the country and in the location we are in general, we are hoping to get fibre optic very soon, and hope that this will enhance our guests experience further. I'm sure if you visit us in another 6 months or so, we will have made even more improvements since taking over the hotel not too long ago. As a 3 star hotel, I believe what we offer is well above that and we are always striving to give 5 star service. I sincerely appreciate your feedback and will take it all on board. We hope to see you here again soon! Kind regards, Kimberley
